All part of The Mirror Group aren't they?

I've lost track of who owns who to be honest - they all seem to be part of either Trinity Mirror or Northern and Shell (now there's a nice monopolies problem if Trinity Mirror buy Desmond's press interests). The point is that more resources will be thrown at Birmingham than Coventry or Wolverhampton, or Manchester rather than Oldham or Bury. From a London-based owner's standpoint, they'll regard Newcastle as the regional centre, and give it more resources than other towns and cities in the region. I'd be amazed if the Echo had more than 10 full time staff, supplemented by freelances paid by the word.

The lad lives in America ffs. He's only been to a handful of games in his life.

Also, why is it that mags are quick to jump on threads like this? Yep, got it, they would prefer things to continue as they currently are.

I dont necessarily want you to continue being shite. However if you lot are content to sit back (not you personally I am using it collectively) and do nothing then why should anyone else care if at least 22k that no longer attend dont.

If we had 22k more at every home game it would have always been a sell out therefore you wouldn’t know we had pink seats! Get ya facts straight ya little mag tinker! :D

Just because fans no longer attend does not mean that they do not care. Far from it.

Yes, our fans don't care  of course they care. It's a throw away remark.

Well that's what they have typed on that thread, obviously you know their minds better though.

With regards your whinge about us posting on this thread, maybe if you didn't reference how our similar problems have gone we wouldn't offer a perspective.

Don't really seem to care about our predicament at the moment.

Imagine the chronicle's reaction if the mags were in the same position, with a manager in charge who had mustered one win as we enter mid October.

The echo on the otherhand are choosing to publish an article focusing on Holloway's backing of Grayson. It beggars belief.

The echo fears speaking 'truth to power' perhaps Bain/Short pay for a lot of advertising more than the punters who buy the rag

 Do not pretend you wouldn't have waded in anyhow. f***ing weird.

The club would want to continue to advertise in the paper regardless. It works both ways.

I believe the chronicle were banned from St James' at one point.

Now you're telling me how my mind works

So that's me, the people posting their apathy in the thread I linked and the general Sunderland support whose minds you claim to know better than themselves. And I'm weird...

Are you Professor X?

I think you've said enough. No doubt you'll contine to post shite and spend countless hours discussing a club that you dislike.

Is this you outing yourself as a mag? Either that or a hypocrite as you spend a fair bit of your time posting about us.

Perhaps the Echo are ignoring your predicament after the way in which you lot publicly harangued a local reporter of theirs because he had tenuous connections with Newcastle.

I really don't and I wouldn't dream of posting on a mag messageboard. Yet again you are derailing a perfectly good thread in a sad, desperate attempt to seek attention.

I'm not really sure what you want the Echo to say? Sell up Short perhaps?

I thought I was quite clear, there should be mounting pressure on the club to replace Grayson.

It's easy to say there are no other options without knowing whether or not that is true, it's also not uncommon to highlight that we are cutting costs snd therefore the severance package would be a cost we'd be unable to absorb. This supposing fans that do raise this point are privy to our manager's contract and fail to realise that we risk losing more money if we are relegated.

Regarding the derail, it was on topic until you cried your eyes out posting this

Now, let's get back on topic. Grumpy has a point on The Echo's dedicated journalist count. Most of the local media is syndicated and I'd imagine The Echo don't have the dedicated resource that The Chronicle does for whatever reason.

Worst case they could write a match report based on the highlights, interviewing fans after the game and watching Grayson's pre match press conferences that are posted online. Are they shown live?

I really don't see what major difference it would make.

Their readership is the fans, not the club. If they were banned, they'd actually become more attractive as an outlet in my eyes as you know they'd be asking difficult questions. Not quite sure why a local newspaper has to remain impartial where a football club is to be concerned. It should follow the approach of a fanzine imo.

Roker Report seems as though it's the only source that's actually telling it like it is.

It does feel that way at the minute, I have to say

I'm just glad we have the Roker Report to refer to. Other than that a few bloggers and podcasts, there's little or nothing.

To the outside world, they'd think we were relatively content. Sunderland were last on the championship and not even a talking point.
