The Loan Market

Fred

Striker
Obviously this season, we signed a lot of younger players on long contracts and it has worked out massively to our benefit, with only Gerty and the short lived loan spell of Guiu being our loans this season.

Do you think we use the loan market a bit more next season, especially to expand our quota of home grown players for Europa League games, or do we pay a premium when every club and their dog know we need home grown players to fill the squad?

There might be some merit in this. Do you permanently move your cost base up to meet the demands of European football which may only by temporary. Or make temporary signings knowing the income stream isn't guaranteed the following season.

Or do you go for it knowing that winning the Europa league gets you in the Champions League the following season.

Always thought there's more value in developing your own players than someone elses. A small number of loans can plug a gap you just cannot fill otherwise, or maybe an exceptional player becomes available.
But far from plan A.

A couple of Enzo kind of loans.

Loans can help.

Especially if we're looking at the likes of Harvey Elliott. Why throw 30 odd million at a lad who's struggled. A loan can help see if we can get a player like him back on track l, or if he was just riding the coat-tails at Liverpool all along.

During the short years loans were instrumental in keeping us up
Evans
Rose
Welbeck
Alonso
Mvila
Borini ( loan not bought version)
We 5punked so much money on utter 5hite especially the Keane years, but special mention to Rodwell, Ndong, Graham, Lens, Borini ( bought version didnt want to know )

i'm sure if there's potential opportunities Flo is all over it already

I can see us tapping into S.America a bit more in this window especially with Angulo and the Wall of Asuncion in our squad.
Perhaps even Mexico

Loan with club option to buy (or obligation to buy if certain targets are met - e.g. maintained European place) would work well for us.

Harvey Elliott, Ethan Nwaneri, and Harry Wilson would be excellent signings for us.
