The Little Drummer Girl

Read the book donkey's ago and really enjoyed it.

I hope this a better adaptation than the Night Manager which I thought was a case of style over substance.

I enjoyed it but felt they were trying for a BAFTA with the cinematography. A little style of substance in places.

Exactly.

Beautiful to look at but, just like The Night Manager, they insist on painting the main characters with a very broad brush and thus they all seem just too larger than life.

Do they think the audience cannot handle a bit of subtlety?

With le Carré I want to be intrigued, not dazzled. In places the first episode looked more like a puff piece for the Greek tourist board than a gritty spy story.

Already seems it'll be a cut above Bodyguard, thank god.
That's a pretty low bar mind.
