The King’s Speech

Got to be up there with one of the best films ever made! I’m not a big fan of Firth, but him and Geoffrey Rush are just brilliant in this. BBC1 now.

It’s shite.

Everything that’s wrong with this country summed up.

Class system that didn’t even acknowledge the work the Aussie bloke did for the king born into privilege.

Good film, The king was dammed brave, not only to get treatment, but to pull off that inspirational speech, is nothing short of heroic.

From the film it looks as though the speech impediment was a result of a left handed child being forced to use his right hand, his siblings taking the piss out of the resulting stammer, and his dad thinking that frightening the shite out of his kids was the right way to go about parenting.

Add in a nanny who hated him and deliberately made him cry when he was with his parents so that he was taken back to nursery and you have a very damaged little boy. All credit to him for his work in overcoming his upbringing.

Heroic is what it is.
