Just been reading about this crime drama set in Copenhagen that's just ended on BBC4. Sounded good but I'd never heard of it until today.
Anyone catch it?
Just downloading episode one now.

I think it's been superb but with it being subtitled, finding 2 hours a week to devote exclusively to it was tricky and I dropped several weeks behind. However, by watching at 2x normal speed the subs were still readable and only took half the time! Got 2 episodes left now.

Definitely worth a watch. I think because it was subtitled you tend to concentrate more on the story line. Having said that although i'd sussed out who the killer was with about 3 episodes to go i still felt it got a bit complicated. Theres a 2nd series out later this year apparently

Very good series with lots of interesting story lines and plot twists. Second series on BBC4 later this year.

Enjoyed the first couple of episodes on Saturday evening of "Spiral: The Butcher of La Villette", again on BBC4.

where are people getting this? Only seeing the first episode in the newsgroups or dvd iso's with dutch subtitles (why always dutch subs??!?!)

Downloaded the first episode off iTunes.

ah right, have the first episode, when you say it had just ended on bbc4 did you mean the last episode had ended or that the 1st episode had just finished because the timing of the newsgroup posts look like it's only the first episode that has been broadcast on beeb4 so far

No, I downloaded the actual first episode.

Episodes 19 and 20 are still on the iPlayer but that's all. The guy from BBC4 who bought it was on 5 Live this afternoon and said there have already been 3 series in Denmark.

Best thing on the telly recently, thoroughly enjoyable.

I set to record the French thing that started on Saturday in it's place ... Spiral: The Butcher of La Vallette but I've not watched them yet, but I'm hopeful it's another cracker (as in good, not a fat alchy).

Looking forward to series two of The Killing like.

been looking for the downloads of the danish version but all the usual sources only seem to have the american version, which has just started!?

think i've missed the boat on this one, im gonna assume the american version is a proper butchers dog...

Try searching for 'Forbrydelsen', the Danish name?
Alternatively, you can download the episodes off iTunes.
Just finished watching episode 1, very good indeed and strangely compelling for a subtitled programme.

The Killing has started on Sunday in America. This is a remake and supposed to be very good.

I think the understated laid back Scandinavian way, unhurried and though with political intrigue always polite and correct were a major part of the original ... I wonder if the Yanks can emulate that.

It was a kind of slowed down sensibled up 24.

Fantastic series, gripping and dark, best thing on TV for ages. Was painful being drip fed only 2 episodes a week for 10 weeks. The DVD of the 20 episodes is out as per the post above, series 2 will show on BBC4 later this year, series 3 is under discussion but not yet made.

I understand the US version is not too bad but nowhere near as good as the danish version. The subtitles really don't get in the way, get the DVD you won't regret it. They'll probably repeat it on BBC4 at some point anyway as it was the most popular thing they've had on in a long time.

Rivetting stuff. Now replaced by the Spiral which has just started last weekend and is a similar theme and looks equally good. Why haven't the UK produced anything to match since Prime Suspect?
