A lad I know is starting work on it and he's been told it's student accommodation like. He could be wrong but that's what he told me last week.

It's better than it being empty, more people living/spending in the city centre as well as a result if it is. Granted students don't have the biggest amount of disposable income but what they do have they will pagger in the bars/shops no bother. More bars, coffee shops etc will be inclined to open down there as well if an influx of students move there.

Just checked...no planning application for accommodation. Approved plans for hotel and retail are still in place until January 2018

Students never "took it over" though did they? It was just a case that so many investors bought to let and when no one was willing to pay what they were asked for they targeted students instead. Only know one person that bought there, nee idea what it is like living there now

It is but mainly by server rooms rather than offices and office workers unfortunately

Its not going to be a hotel now. Ground floor is going to be three seperate retail units and the floors above are going to be student accomodation of 178 rooms
