The Johnson problem

I’m going off the football and quality we showed earlier in the season mate. It’s the same problems we’ve had for 4 season mind, missing any kind of physicality. And the managers decisions are baffling.
Saw someone on Twitter #askdanny “why are we one of the whitest teams in football?” I had noticed that too.

Without getting into some weird eugenics territory we seem to sign a lot of 5 foot nowt skinny lads and often come up against big physical, more diverse, squads who punish us with pace, power and athleticism.

Is it a choice by the recruitment team to avoid anyone who would solve these problems?

This squad should be beating 99% of the teams we play in this league, so losing 5-1, 1-3, 4-0, 6-0 or 3-0 isn’t acceptable. After games like that we’ll inevitably play some absolute shite and win.

People aren’t jumping up his arse when we ‘win next week’ we all want them to win and rightly enjoy it when they do.

We cannot spend a 5th season stuck in this league man. I want Johnson to take us up, but I can’t see it. 400 games as a manager he’s achieved fuck all, why would that change now? His tactical decisions are mental and the bullshit he spouts is even worse.

He won’t get the sack anytime soon, the board have given him January and like I say we’ll probably win the next 2 or 3.

Apologies for the long thread.

I'm not sure he'll get results in the next month or so.

15th placed Bolton did their homework and played to our weaknesses - weaknesses so well known that Johnson and other managers openly talk in the media about "the blueprint to beat Sunderland" - and even though we could all see what was happening, Johnson didn't change anything.

And the players definitely downed tools.

Our next matches will be against teams that have similarly done their homework and preparation on the training pitch, and with the combination of LJs management and the lack of players application I really think there's a good chance this bad run will continue.

Bolton were 15th FFS and they humped us all over the park - and it could have been more.

It’s sumit we’ve been missing for years mate, athleticism and pace. Dunno how everyone can see it other than those at the club.

I think we’ll win next Saturday and win comfortably. But the 2 games after that are away, so who knows mate

Been missing raw pace and power for a while Stewart apart who has a bit of both. Others have one without the other.

In hindsight he should’ve gone in the summer but i can understand why he was given a chance.

However, we’ve had 4 heavy defeats away from home this season and Johnson still hasn’t learned his lessons.

If he isn’t sacked soon then he has a lot to work to do to get us promoted. Absolutely unacceptable.

It all comes back to Johnson, I couldn't believe the team and decisions today and as I said in the match thread and others have said here, a Warnock or Big Sam side doesn't come out at 2-0 after half time and concede a third within 5 mins.

It's embarrassing how second best we were and must have been full Brent or Partridge at half time because we got worse.

LJ has achieved Sweet FA , and never will

The fans have seen this for a couple of seasons now so why hasn’t Johnson? You don’t need to have all of the FA coaching badge’s, it’s as plain on the nose on your face! A manager should inspire the players not bore them with acronyms. We have no leaders in our squad to rattle a few cages and whip up some emotion. We need some players with a winning mentality who’ve been there and done that. Consistency is the key, Luton did it two years ago. A solid team ethic. There were no ‘stars’ in that squad just a manager who wasn’t on an ego trip and organised and motivated his squad to win promotion.

He talks the talk, doesn't walk the walk

No chance of promotion with him as coach - another 2- 3 seasons I league bastard 1
Going to console myself with not having to bother with VAR ruining games or listening to Shearer on MOTD because we are almost certainly stuck here for a while.

We've been bullied for the last five seasons or so. No pace, no strength, particularly in the middle of the park. Infact we've probably been the slowest side in the country for the last decade. I don't think it's a choice by the recruitment team, presumably they have been told at least recently to sign technically gifted midgets as it suits the 'project'

It’s that attitude that sees us in the situation we currently find ourselves in. We were going to beat Lincoln easily, what happened. We then scraped a win against Portsmouth. Great! Then get humiliated today! Is that the form of a successful team?

No mate it’s absolutely shite. That’s why we’re in this position.

The league is shite so after a loss we inevitably play someone hopeless and win.

It was a terrible result for you today but that kind of Billy Big Bollocks view won’t help you and I’m surprised it still exists after you’ve been in L1 for so long.

We had a similar ’entitlement’ view when we dropped to the Conference and it wasn’t until Chris Wilder came in halfway through our third season down there when we were 4th from bottom 🤬 and hammered out a few home truths that it got turned round and we got promotion the following season.

His plan was to buy some of the best players from other Conference clubs and get them to gel rather than any big names from higher levels.

It worked (just) as we sneaked through the play-off route.

One of the posts that really sticks with me is when we were forced through injury to play 3 at the back?
Someone said "he's had to play a settled side because he's got no option, let's hope he doesn't revert once everyone's fit?"

And he did - as soon as he had the chance he reverted to playing "his way".

He could see the improvement in the team and results, but he HAD to revert to him "being right".

He really believes he's right, and probably believes if the team doesn't achieve its not because of his tactics and preparation - it's down to the players.

And I assume that's how he thinks because he shows no signs whatsoever of learning from his mistakes - because he doesn't think he's making any mistakes.
