Where have all the Wickham lovers gone? The ones saying he will be future England centre forward blah blah. Thought they'd be all over this.

Always good entertainment reading those posts ;)

Watmore has more chance of being a future England forward than him. Not taking anything away from Watmore mind, thought he was a breath of fresh air when he came on tbh

I was glad to see Pardew start him last night, big mistake, I presume he thought he would get a performance out of him as he was playing his old team.
I thought it was set up for his first goal for him mind. We normally offer that sort of charity.

Am I the only one who isn't sour over Wickham?

Got a decent price for him, kept us up one season, he's happier and we're no more miserable; job done.
With you here. No axe to grind and as you said grateful for keeping us up that season and he is now a Palace player so wouldn't be bothered which way it goes but don't begrudge him any success that may or may not come his way.

I think Wickham and Watmore are good to compare.

You've got Wickham who is young, has plenty of ability, a good first touch, strength, pace and an eye for goal. But his desire, commitment and application is absymal. He looks more than happy to go through the motions as a footballer, pick up his pay packet and live the lifestyle.

Then you have Watmore who probably doesn't quite have the natural ability of Wickham but has the energy, commitment and desire. He looks like he wants to be a footballer who plays football. It looks like a passion for him and not merely a career that pays for a glamorous lifestyle.

If Wickham had that same desire and attitude I've no doubt that he'd be a completely different proposition. His story is going to be one of unfulfilled potential whereas you'd probably bank on Watmore's being a story of a player who eeked everything out of what he has.

Not sure what the laughing is about. He has proven he has those qualities sporadically in both Ipswich and Sunderland colours. Wickham's issue is application. It's as clear as day

Yes he was bad , well done Sunderland , but i am gutted .

Fair play fella.
Have to say, you've got a donkey on your hands there. I'm honestly of the opinion Pardew was so desperate to 'do one over on us' he wanted Wickham. Sadly he has never been as good as that cup game on the left v Arsenal when he was at Ipswich. He's the very definition of Spice Boy.

I did to start with, then I watched him, and realised he posed little threat.
Pardew said after the match that he would play Sako against the Mags.

Sorry mate, I honestly wasn't being flippant, I've just heard these comments so much in the last five years.

He's just not good enough for the Premier League.

I can assure you he doesn't have plenty of ability, he can't win a header, get into the right areas or make the right choices to pass or shoot.
He doesn't play his strike partner in and holds the ball much too long.
When he does shoot it's without conviction and holds very little threat.
If you expect to see goals from outside the area just forget it, he's incapable of striking the ball cleanly most of the time.

His first touch, in space, is adequate but very poor when it counts in dangerous areas.

He's incredibly weak, for a big man, and is much more easily knocked off the ball than Vardy or Defoe for example.

Eye for goal ........ sorry mate but that deserves another

Did you see JoS win a header v him around say the 60th minute, I say win a header like, he basically just hoyed him out the way and headed the ball.

Anyone have a gif of that? it was quite amusing and shows him up as the lazy wanker he is.
