The Hundred - Free tickets

I haven't yet been able to catch a full game. Tomorrow I am at home and got free time so going to tune in from the start. I'm all for more cricket on free-to-air TV so we get more people and especially young people into the game and then exploring the regular formats.

I've really enjoyed every game so far.

I've not seen a single game that wouldn't have been just as good if it was 20 overs, labelled the Blast and involved our existing counties. Rashid Khan is probably the only player involved who hasn't already played in the Blast this season.
It almost doesn’t need saying anymore where Dobell is concerned but again, wonderful article.

Could’ve done that at a Durham T20

Looked good mate, looked like good weather good family atmosphere, what cricket all about for me
Got back to Durham about 10:45, so a little summary of the day, parking we ended up in car park k a 5 min walk from the ground and it cos 10 pound the security around the ground were great in telling us and helping us find it, intonthe ground we missed about 40 balls of the Welsh ladies 1st innings but that was always gunna happen as owa lass didn't finish work til 12, had our own food n drink but had a walk around and prices at the bars and such were the norm not too high, hundred merchandise however seems very expensive, my son had a Durham T20 hat cost his 10quid he never had it off the same style of superchargers hat £22 and another £33 😲, anyway in our seats and the atmosphere was growing throughout the after noon it was fun and enjoyable as the superchargers women chased down their target and as the men came out the noise went up a level. Although he played for the opposition watching bairstow pepper the stands was awesome, and their total we said would be very difficult to chase down, but to be fair they gave it a go and the crowd got behind well but not quite to be, son has a croaky voice this morning from his singing and shouting as everytime a group got up shouting 'Yorkshire' he'd fire in an occasional 'durham' 😂 which the locals all laughed at him, couple of durham shirts about and a lad in last seasons home top too, was suprised how easy we got out and away from the ground, but as I said last night with the music and fire works it was great but iirc t20 had exactly the same when it 1st started did it not? So why does it not now? There was all creeds and ages around us and they all enjoyed it

Great to see you had a fantastic day out mate, loved the fact all ages were there and enjoying themselves.

You dead right of course if that game was T20 rather than ‘ The Hundred’ and 20 overs rather than 16.4 I reckon you would have had the same brilliant day out.

Love to see attacking cricket in all formats, that’s why I watch a lot of the IPL and The Blast, love seeing top class players hit the ball out of the park, in whatever format, always have since been a kid, before T20 even invented.

Imo cricket fans have always love watching the likes of Richards, Botham etc playing big shots.

Love to watch players like Buttler, Bairstow, Banton etc, reckon it would have been great watching Bairstow yesterday he looked in great nick.

Glad you and family enjoyed yourself mate, it sounds like you did.

That’s always going to be the case though of course, it’s only 20 balls less, so every single game in ‘ The Hundred’ will be similar to a T20 game.

Doesn’t mean the bloke you quoted can’t have enjoyed every game soo far?

I have enjoyed ‘ The Hundred’ and ‘ The Blast’

Logical suggests surely if you enjoy T20 cricket you will enjoy ‘ The Hundred too, as they very similar.

If you enjoy a football game that is 45 mins each half, it stands to reason you will enjoy a football game that’s 35 mins each half

Whilst I agree that they could have just put the money into the Blast and gave it some more exposure surely the lack of international stars is due to COVID? Am sure when the competition was first announced there were a host of big names signed up.

Eight players dropped out for various reasons unrelated to Covid. Williamson was injured, Shaheen, Rabada and the Aussies (Warner, Stoinis, Richardson and Maxwell) were due to international fixture clashes. It tells you something when a player would rather play in an ODI friendly against Zimbabwe than play in the Hundred. They brought in the likes of Conway, Ferguson and De Kock but overall the roster has been no better than the Blast in previous years.

Greetings from a drizzly Lords. Got here for the last 20 balls of the first innings of the women's match (apparently only the second ever women's professional match at Lord's)? Reasonable crowd so far considering the weather forecast. More families and less boozy than you'd get for a ODI or Test but that may change when the men's match starts.

Looking forward to seeing how they explain Duckworth Lewis to the newcomers in the event of rain.

Would've been better to rebrand it as the 96.Under 13's rules.8 a side .4 pairs each batting 4 overs.Start with 200 then deduct 8 for each wicket lost. All fielders bowl at least 1 over to a maximum of 3. .Worked well since the 70's.
Sounds like the rules of kwik cricket I played in my last year of primary school, actually quite enjoyed it and we got to the north finals 😂

BBC are showing a canny bit
Presenters, Pundits and players must be told to say how great the atmosphere is

Hussain on now. Lot of respect for him but made a baffling statement how the blast etc isn’t producing the quality required. England are arguably the best white ball team in the world.

Propaganda from Sky and the BBC that would make Kim Jong-Un blush.
Warwickshire stewards taking down anti 100 flags today
See above.

Durham scored 400+ in 50 overs on Thursday. Pity you don’t like county cricket.
