The Homeless

A lot of the homeless people and Big Issue sellers in Bristol are at the same places all the time. The locals get to know them, and many locals make sure that they are looked after. In those cases, it's hardly surprising they'll know regulars by name. Our local Caffe Nero lets the Big Issue seller always outside there use one of their outdoor chairs; others make sure they get cups of tea and get some food in them. If you want to find out if someone is genuinely homeless, offer to buy them a cup of tea or a sandwich. Someone genuinely homeless will take that offer gratefully.

The lovely Annunziata, who is 40 years old, and apparently joined the Conservative party in 1984. At the age of 5? Looks like a certain carelessness with facts runs in the family.
Ha ha, yes, indeed, Grumpy, la. Like Maybelline, maybe she was born with it?

Last time I checked there were two, and they were intentionally homeless having refused accomodation.

The beggars at the match are not homeless.

People complain about it but the only thing that will stop it is if people refuse to give them anything. But people are nice. People want to help others. There is no sign of this changing despite the awareness campaigns that have been done.

Begging is illegal in Sunderland though. The non-homeless around the stadium should be moved on as they are just taking the piss. As others have said they won't even be from here and just make the place look bad.

I think if you lived a healthy life and looked after yourself, you would be less likely to be in hospitals so much. Also if you did well in school, were hardworking, ambitious and independent, you would probably be less dependent on government services. I find it ironic that people want so much government in their life, where they limit their freedom of choice then complain that same government are screwing them over. I mean someone actually posted about Karl Marx..wtf.

I'll take capitalism over any other system in the world.

There's a shock. Your other posts led me to believe you were an out and out socialist. I feel so silly.

So how would you raise your kids? To be reliant on someone to get through life? Or would you raise them to be responsible, independent, self reliant individuals?

Go ahead, fuck off in school, smoke, drink miss work, lay around all day. Some ambitious person out there will pick up the tab.

Well there’s an extreme perspective to take. As you know it’s somewhere in the middle.

And there are a lot of very hard working people who live day to day

By increasing the wealth gap through policies of self interest[.

No one's saying the problem would go away entirely. However having a left leaning majority in the HoC might get a few policies passed which helps alleviate the problem which is currently growing exponentially.

By your logic if the problem can't be solved completely then why bother trying in the first place. That's like saying if we can't sign Van Dijk let's just stick with these two idiots are centre half for good

I'm almost looking forward to a Corbyn government being elected so we can see all these Tory-generated problems being tackled by a compassionateand committed administration. Or not, as the case will probably be. I'm 61 now and thank fuck any Marxist policies will have little adverse effect on the rest of my and my lass' remaining years.

People should be careful what they wish for.

Ok so how much of someone’s earnings should they have to forfeit? What percentage of their pay should go to the government?

I can’t just provide a number, I would be making it up

Should the super rich have a life of luxury, especially where it’s inherited wealth, and then control policy that makes them wealthier relatively? Whilst people have to visit foodbanks?

I don’t want Marxism. I want more balance so that people aren’t living month to month in 2019 whilst using foodbanks. Whilst Mogg makes himself ever wealthier

It’s bullshit

No, I would teach them to be self reliant and try their best. If they didn't succeed I'd do my best, my everything, to help them.

If they needed help from a government I'd hope it was there and they wouldn't be left to swing for it. That's socialism, helping each other.

You see every person in need as a burden.

No I don’t, I have nothing against helping someone out in need. I have something against people who have fucked off and now want a free ride. Are you the Karl Marx fan? Why don’t you visit one of these socialist/communist countries and see how great it is??

Have the super rich stolen this money? When you get older do you want to leave something for your kids? Why are you so envious of rich people? Do you think it’s more important for a fair outcome or a fair opportunity?

how about the same amount as we currently pay in tax? but just distribute it better. i.e instead of privatising things like the NHS and schools and the prison service (these things are necessity to life), we run them properly as publicly owed interests. so our tax money goes back into society, to make it better, than directly out of our pockets and into the pockets of billionaires, never to be seen again?

the problem is, people like yourself, and many others, can only discuss things if the arguments are completely based on extreme of the argument. there is a fine balance that we are currently no where near. i suggest reading 'the ragged trousered philanthropists' - a book written in 1902 (ish). we don't need to live in a completely socialist/Marxist/communist world, of course not, that wouldn't work, but their principles should be applied to certain areas of society, i.e those that are necessity to life, those that we have no choice over needing - health, education, policing, utilities, infrastructure etc.. if these industries can be ran privately for profit, then they can be ran publicly with the 'profit' returned into the public purse.

we could also properly tax the super rich people and companies.

you are scared of policies slightly left of centre because that is what the tories want you to think.

Glasgow city centre has seen a massive increase in 'professional beggars'
A few years ago it was a bunch of Eastern Europeans housed over the river in Govanhill who would come in every morning and set up shop, but in the past year theres been a move from more of the junkie/alkie mob to aggressively beg in the city centre.
Today I was out at lunch and you could tell the local dealer had set up camp, couple of teenagers kicking around on bikes passing the word on, suddenly the alleyway next to the Co-Op on Gordon street was the most popular place in town.

So you think you’re gonna get a better outcome with bureaucrats than with the free market? I disagree...

The government doesn’t have to work to get your money, it just takes it and you get whatever shit they put out....

You know this was a Labour invention though, right?
Under-occupancy penalty - Wikipedia
'The Labour Party, which announced the policy in principle in 2008 whilst in government, later pledged to repeal the act had they been elected in 2015.'
I’m not particularly arguing labour vs Tory. I’m arguing about self interest, and there is plenty of it on both sides

And highlighting it’s a disgrace that we have poverty like we do
