The happy clappers have had their time

Clapped us out of the PL. Clapped us out of the championship.

Clapped a sunderland fan wishing Charlton fans well in 2019. Clapped them after defeats to Lincoln and Luton in the playoffs.

Critical of any fan who dares to say anything against the club. Defended the ownership after KLD was proven to have lied to the fans (those loans been turned into equity yet?)

It’s time for a bit of pressure on the hierarchy. Time for them to see that it’s not acceptable for SAFC to be plying their trade outside of the PL, and their loyal and numerous fans will not accept anything else.

This doesn’t mean change of manager, change of ownership or change of the overall business plan.

It means that our longest spell outside of the PL in history, or hoping to “find form” going into a playoff campaign, isn’t young to be accepted as acceptable.

6 times champions of England, 2 time FA cup winners, 10th in the overall top flight table, let’s start acting like it. Owners, directors, coaches, players & fans. What we’re currently seeing isn’t good enough and it’s incumbent on us all to sort the fucker out.
Just seeing the first few replies yav got no chance mate. 30 years down the line yal have them saying "they've won 13 league cups mate, 5 FA cups, the prem couple times, been in the champs league multiple times. What ya pissing ya knickers for?"

Does my head in the mentality and how easy we accept absolute shite these days. And if you dare raise one concern ya proper hounded out for it.

Ya reet in what ya say, something needs to be done soon. Before it's gone too far.

I agree, it’s time for the fans to become evil and ruthless
This. Just like when Superman turned evil, went to the bar, drank some whisky, and started flicking peanuts at the bottles behind the bar, resulting in them being smashed to smithereens. Imagine 40k (give or take a few empty kids seats) screaming MLFs flicking peanuts at the directors box man. Massive.

*Disclaimer - I'm not actually suggesting anyone does any of the above. Peanuts are dangerous. Everyone knows this.

Christ…. Cope to the max here!

Just one question…. In your lifetime how many major trophies have we won and how often have we finished top of the highest league?

We have history, but frankly we have had little to shout about for a hell of a long time, so this “we are the biggest club ever” arrogance is just bollocks.

You earn promotion, you don’t get gifted it because we won the league in 1936!

I see a few who don’t like the op are over looking some points in his post. It’s a strange Sunderland thing, we accept shite shrug our shoulders and plod on. Contrast that with people in Newcastle, you can’t tell a massive percentage of them that Newcastle isn’t the best city in the world or Newcastle one of the biggest clubs ever etc. it’s not just football it’s ingrained in everyday life. Look at any upbeat post on Sunderland facebook page it’s always filled with moaning complainers. They moan there’s nowt in town then fuck off to Newcastle the metro centre or dalton park. We got a cinema back and the few times I’ve been back in it’s been empty again like it were the last time before the company went tits up. You see them all the time moan about the state of the town etc then don’t support new business in town when they go to the wall. I’ve always sensed that strange mindset in a lot of folk born and raised in Sunderland. I think it spreads to the football club too, can’t want better because it was worse before etc. we seem to accept low standards across the board almost reveal in it. You just have to read the posts moaning about the new development in town man from the “bent” local council etc. Contrast that with them up the road they thing their shit doesn’t stink. As much as people think people in the north east are a lot alike we are polar opposites in this regard.

You obviously haven’t read Chronicle comments or Facebook posts related to things happening through there. They have their moaners that will twist about anything just like anywhere else, trust me.

I propose a fan wide refusal of acceptance of where we currently are. This season is probably too late to make much of a difference to what happens come the playoffs.

The minute this season ends, the fanbase as a whole should, in my opinion, leave those in positions of power in no doubt that anything other than automatic promotion next season isn’t acceptable.

We have too long gone into seasons “waiting to see what happens” imo. Managerial appointments, transfer business & on pitch results haven’t been under anywhere near as much scrutiny at they have.

I am genuinely baffled by any genuine supporter who accepts us being out of the PL for the best part of a decade.

We still have a decent chance of going up. The squad is better than last year. We are the highest of the non-parachute-subsidised teams. Play well in three games, and we are up. >90% would I think have taken that this time last season

I think if you asked most reasonable supporters at the start of the season that we would miss out on auto's but have a playoff place pretty much locked up with 9 games left, then they'd have all taken it.

Its been a rubbish weekend, we're all feeling the same.

We may very well end up getting promoted this season, please wait until the season is over before posting knee jerk shite like this.
That's the whole point of this thread though.

We've accepted mediocrity for decades.

OP trying to galvanise people out of this second best mindset. Well done for making his point ever more valid referring to is as knee jerk shite.

WE ARE 4TH IN THE LEAGUE!

What more do you want? The 3 clubs above us have been the most consistent in the league all season deserve to be there. Nothing we can do about that. The club were right to sack you off from doing the flags. You're a right miserable arsehole

I know this thread was started by an ex “happy clapper”, who, when jilted by the club hierarchy became an ex girlfriend type, he can’t cut up kld’s clothes or tell people he was shit in bed, but what he can do is whinge like an entitled child, but honestly the most worrying thing is if even one person agrees with it. We are where we are, with a decent enough owner, not lying to us, says we’ll be sustainable, live within our means, gonna deliver us a chance at promotion through the playoffs, but isn’t going to put £3bn into the club. so unless anybody reading this knows an hapless billionaire who wants to piss money away on a championship club, rather than say an Everton or a spurs or even a wolves, who’s income dwarfs ours, what’s the point in stirring up discontent? Our whinging isn’t going to change anything, except maybe make us feel a bit Spartacus like if we get half a dozen like minded individuals agreeing with us, all we can do is accept we missed the boat when short packed his bags. At that point with better football people in the club we probably would have been a Bournemouth or a Fulham now, instead we’re on the outside looking in, and given the gap in finances and FFP, my own view is that gap will not be breached now. The days of a Wimbledon coming from nowhere and winning the fa cup and being top division are gone, best we can do is be a Leicester if we can sneak up through the playoffs. So my honest answer to the op is just enjoy your Saturdays with your mates, see it for what it is, a means to have a bit of pride in where your roots are, have a few drinks and use this hobby to relieve stress not create it.

Crack on then
Weird some people. If anything, people should be furious at the FA, UEFA, FIFA, the government, TV companies etc. They have ruined football. Not fans that try and support their team.

100% this
