Nonsense.
You may not share their opinion it doesn't make them blinkered. It would very easy, and wrong, to throw that accusation at you given your obvious and clear dislike of him

Surprise surprise. I disagree with you.

These days I just stand and shake my head at the matches when people give him a rousing round of applause after a pass back to the keeper from the half way line (and that is a fact by the way - it happens!).

People are moaning about our "sitting back" yet they can't recognise that it has been happening for years with him in the team and there's a reason for that.

I accept your opinion. I don't agree with it.

I'm not accusing you of being blinkered

I would accuse large portions of our support of being blinkered when it comes to Cattermole.

As for my own views. Yep, there is a bias at play without a doubt. I have been more than prepared to point out when discussing him this season that he clearly now struggles for pace / stamina due to the injuries that have taken their toll on his body and that is a major problem to us. But this has also shown that he lacks the class that you would expect to see from a so called Premier League midfielder who has the astute footballing brain to make up for the pace deficiency.

Hmm, reality will seriously knack this, but ignoring academy and unused young fringe players - but trying to be slighting on the realistic edge of ideally - I would keep (its a much shorter list)

Definite: McLaughlin, McGeady, O'Nien, Hume, Leadbitter, Ozturk, Oviedo, Gooch,

I suppose so: McGeouch, Cattermole (until contract up), Power, Flanagan (cover), Maguire

That would still mean a massive clearout - but the key is we need to be able to score goals and Grigg has shown nothing, Wyke may move and do OK elsewhere but bluntly winning one header in 10, and being weak as piss in a challenge - it's not going to work here.

Just as a decent keeper was all that stood between us and staying up last season - a decent striker was all that stood between us and promotion this year. Decent strikers don't come cheap, but tht is where a good percentage of our budget needs to go.

None as blinkered as thou. Well maybe one or two others

He did a back pass when under no pressure to our deep centre half on Sunday then turned away from the ball and ran towards a Charlton player. He received a ripple of applause!!!!!!

With Ruiter , Matthews , Dunne, Morgan , Sterling definitely leaving and probably Oviedo, it already totting up before you even start. This freeing up of spaces then becomes an opportunity to change huge areas of the pitch.

New steady 2nd choice keeper we trust.
New RB
New CB
New LB (potentially)
New striker
New winger

If you buy first choice players for those positions it's already a significant overhaul.

Throw in a midfielder out and something different coming in and you are pretty much there.

Every single player coming in has to be fast. Simple as that. It would transform an already steady team.

That list is about spot on , except for Ozturk , he wouldn't even make a my back up list , one of the first out the door for me , absolute donkey.

Wyke and Grigg can score goals at this level

Grigg has proven he can. Enough goals to get a decent team promoted. Why he couldn't for us this season is unknown, given that he's done it before. Maybe half a season settling in will see him a different player next season.

Wyke? Never in a million years, nowhere near good enough to be the lone centre forward. He's awful, mate. Can't hold it up and doesn't get in the right positions. I guarantee you that if we play him as the lone striker for the majority of next season then we won't go up again.

Its quite standard from him. But I am biased / blinkered because I notice that he often moves into positions that makes it more difficult for our defenders to pass to him.

I'm wondering if with better players beside him, and better marshalling- he would be more composed, he has looked good enough in a handful of games, but utterly, utterly woeful in others, making me think the ability is there, just scarcely shown. You may well be right though - certainly a once every four games type player is a luxury we can't afford.

I'm hoping him and Baldwin will be cover with Flanagan and two new centre halves competing to be first choice.

I'd hope someone might take Baldwin, but I'm doubting it. I just don't think he is consistent enough to stick with if we have the option - I've seen potential in Ozturk, but Baldwin makes so many very basic errors.

Not sure what happened for him, looked our best defender st the start of the season but somethings not quite right, has the ability though at this level.

From a more let’s say sensible perspective. I wouldn’t miss that many.

Ruiter
Matthews
Oviedo
Flanagan
Loovens
Gooch

Some financial, some football

Have a like ...

I'm actually curious how this squad would get on with a decent manager. I'm by no means saying it doesn't need an overhaul, but I can't help wondering how many points this lot would get with someone like Warnock in charge, rather than Jack 'Sketch' Ross.

Our problems seem to be tactical more than outright skill deficiencies. It's only the third division, this lot aren't world beaters, but surely they should have enough to see us comfortably promoted...

I suppose there are a number of players that a fresh season and some new colleagues could work wonders for - so much of it is in the mind. Hopefully we get some pleasant surprises next season.

Two years ago we tried playing without a competent keeper - we failed where otherwise we would have survived.
Last season unfortunately from January we tried playing without a competent striker - we failed where even a 10 goal a season striker would probably have seen us go up.
Our tactics have often been questionable, but a basic deficiency up front kept us down IMO.

McLaughlin - Keep
Ruiter - Out of contract
Stryjek - Out of contract
Love - Sell
Matthews - Out of contract
Flanagan - Keep
Baldwin - Keep but sell if we get a good offer
Ozturk - Keep
Loovens - Sell/release
Oviedo - Would like him to stay but on too much
Hume - Keep
James - is he out of contract?
Cattermole - Same as Oviedo
Leadbitter - Keep
Robson - Give him pre season to prove himself
Power - Keep
McGeough - Keep
O'Nien - Keep
Mumba - Loan out for experience
Gooch - Keep
McGeady - Keep
Watmore - Keep
Maguire - Keep
Embleton - Hope we keep this lad!
Honeyman - Keep but sell if we get a good offer
Molyneux - Out of contract
Grigg - Keep
Wyke - Sell
Kimpioka - Hope he signs a new contract

We need to add pace and power to the side!
I’d sell Grigg and keep Wyke. I’d also lose two centre mids to create space for Embleton and Mumba. Probably McGeouch and Robson.
