Hoy, the ref for the second penalty said that penalty needed moving and it was less off tbe

f***ing yes, the first was that badly off the spot (fuck ya @MackemX :D) the 2nd wasnt half as bad
What the fuck are you watching the match on? The 1st penna position was covering more white than the 2nd which barely touched the edge of the spot.

The 1st penna position is the 1st image with the 2nd below

Careful, this is what apologists for Cameroon are saying about VAR ;)

Cameroon were a little unlucky with the offside decision for their goal.

On the other hand, they'd not be in a position to get a goal back if the ref had done her job properly in the first half, because Cameroon would have been down to 9 women at that point instead of having free rein to kick fuck out of anything in a white shirt

I thought the whole point of VAR was to stop controversial games and people saying things like “they’ve been robbed” or “that should have definitely been a red, the ref is rubbish”.

But the last two games have shown us that the introduction of VaR hasn’t stopped any of that at all. In fact, it’s amazingly managed to make things worse because people expect not to be robbed even more now.

It’s quite an achievement.

This sort of thing has worked better in sports that aren't run by FIFA

A basic foul is not a yellow card offence (unless it is deemed to be unsporting behaviour or there has been a succession of them & the yellow card is produced for persistent misconduct).

Again how could the ref have awarded the foul if she was blind sided & didnt see it, as you originally suggested?
Taking out a player in full flight down the wing like that would likely be a yellow card, which is all the ref would have seen. The elbow turns it into red. The ref saw the foul, didn't see the use of the elbow. Ok?

Spot on.

If FIFA can justify the use of var for discerning that someone’s door is 5 or 6 mms away from where it should be then they’re surely able to for deliberate elbows to the head and stamping on Achilles heels. If not then they’re not for for purpose.

I thought var would be a once a month usage on average per team, on this basis its 4 var a half

Spot on. When they slow it to super slow everything looks worse.
