These restrictions will be accepted as normal going forward if there's a good uptake in tickets this summer.

We really need empty stadiums or we've had it.

no it won't. stop overreacting ffs
Plus its going on orders rather than individual games. So if got tickets for all games up to final and unsuccessful in ballot then lose all them tickets. Also it says on UEFA a "minimum" 25% at Wembley so hopefully if these test events are successful may get a slight increase in capacity.

i read it as on match by match basis

if it "works" this summer and is deemed safe, why would they lift restrictions and make things less safe? There's literally no reason for them to lift restrictions if it works this summer.

safe for the current situation yes. they want more in for the semis and final so they aren't even sticking with the same reduced capacity for the duration of the tournament

I'm not on about reduced capacity. I'm on about mask wearing, limiting movement around stadiums, one way systems, personalised arrival times etc. These things are here to stay if it works this summer. They'll be deemed as safety measures in the same way all-seater stadiums are. The only way this changes is if no-one complies, don't turn up, empty stadiums.

until everyone has received a vaccine it will be

Keeping my tickets for the Croatia game and Scotland game. Minimum 22.5k fans at Wembley for the Group Games. I live 50 miles from London, hour on the train. My brother @tarantula and I have had the vaccine and my lad gets tested twice a week at work. Just got to get through the ballot.

if that was the set up at the SOL next season, indefinitely, i reckon there'd be less than 10k there every game by november

i'll never attend a match where i have to wear a mask, not allowed to move about, have a designated arrival time etc.. not when i can watch it in the boozer with my pals, drinking with no masks on.

on top of that, the way the numbers are looking, there is going to be hardly an virus in circulation in the uk soon. these measures will be absolutely pointless

Is that why the R number has gone up this week? Infections have risen slightly.

deaths, hospital admissions and total amount of people in hospital still dropping, and numbers are tiny compared january already. its never going to eradicated completely, but using a bit of perspective, in proportion to all the other hazards out there, covid will be insignificant in a couple of months.

doberman is right in a way, if stadia were selling out weekly with all these restrictions in place, it'll be unlikely that they would lift them. why would they

Of course they are tiny compared to January, it was pretty much out of control and vaccinations had only just started. The restrictions are slowly being lifted and its expected to see small rises. The UEFA site says later Rounds/Crowds would be assessed nearer the dates. I can see the Semis and Final at Wembley being played before Bigger Crowds say 50% or bigger, dependant on infection rates. Boris said all restrictions may be over by 21stJune, when he first announced the timetable.

i'm not on about lifting restrictions now, i'm on about july, august, september, next season. theres always going to be a bit of covid in circulation, but hopefully it doesnt mean wearing masks at the SOL becomes the norm. as they can fuck right off

And what is in it for the clubs/leagues to enforce that shite? Conspiracy theory drivel.

We'll just have to wait and see, there's not much we can do about it until the next election, if Boris decides to keep it

Eh? If it works and folk just turn up, nod and agree then what difference does it make for the clubs?

I won't attend a single game where restrictions exist either but if others do then they'll be here to stay.
