The Durham Assoc parade at the SOL tomorrow...

Thankfully, not everything is black & white.

The entire history of NE mining culture isn't eradicated by the actions of a few well meaning misguided anti-fascists.

I'm extremely proud of my roots and always will be.

The various miners associations were never 100% in agreement from the very beginning ...

... that doesn't mean we should now forget decades of history, I certainly won't.

I’m all for the parade to show our heritage but as soon as their leader goes up for his handshake I hope it’s accompanied with chants of “you can stick your banner up your arse!”

There’s was absolutely no need for their behaviour during the dicanio era!

They can stick their flag up their arse. Demanding it back because we appointed PDC as if they are important.

But not the future or my children. We can celebrate tradition without pretending they have any worth in today’s world.
As you wish.

And I would suppose those attending will be labour party members. Btw just to let you know I'm not a tory as I despise the twats. I voted labour for years and will again once Corbyn and his Cronies have gone..
I’m not a huge fan of Corbyn but arguably they represent workers rights more than the Blair era.

Was disgusting the way the press and then our Durham miner friends jumped on the bandwagon to attack Sunderland when we appointed DiCanio. The week before he was on football focus, told he was a Premier league legend, he was a West Ham hero, and was patted on the back where ever he went. Sunderland appoint him, and suddenly he was worse than Hitler.

Do they still insist we check the political opinions of all of our staff, under the threat of taking their banner home?

This.

I don't think its about working class solidarity mate as that is a myth, just the attitude of the miners having lost the pits to closure... DUM seem to have forgotten just how much the people of Sunderland and other areas around the country gave on a Thursday or Friday (in my case) out of their pay packets from the shipyards who were on less wages than the miners (when the were'nt on strike) for over a year...

Controversial, you'd better believe it.

It may not be as common as it once was, but working class solidarity a myth? how do you think the miners won the strikes of 72 and 74 ? give your head a shake
