By repealing the anti union laws? By talking back ownership of utilities? By reversing austerity? By investing in industry? By saving the NHS? By having a National Education Service?
There's probably a thousand arguments that could be had stemming from this. This is a footy forum though and the thread is about a display celebrating our heritage.

So who would we back.
The pitmen or a fella with Facist leanings.
I know where my allegiance will be.

Di Canio's political opinions were nothing to do with his ability to manage SAFC. They shouldn't have used his appointment to try and push their political opinions on people either. Sunderland is a predominantly left wing city, most of our fans are more left than right, but SAFC is not a left wing club or any of that shite, it is non-politcal, open for everyone, and that's how it should be. Threatening to remove a banner (no one would care) and kicking up a fuss about our choice of manager man, it was pathetic. Do they expect the club to check the political allegiance of every player as well just to make sure they "fit in"? I'm all for celebrating our heritage, but that one act was ridiculous

Glad there's so much working class solidarity on here. Workers of the world unite
I don't think its about working class solidarity mate as that is a myth, just the attitude of the miners having lost the pits to closure... DUM seem to have forgotten just how much the people of Sunderland and other areas around the country gave on a Thursday or Friday (in my case) out of their pay packets from the shipyards who were on less wages than the miners (when the were'nt on strike) for over a year...

Controversial, you'd better believe it.

It may well be a myth these days but no harm remembering when it was strong and gained all working people rights and rewards which successive Tory governments have tried to erode

I love my working class roots, however the labour party ( for now ) have turned their backs on us...

Labour Party are a bunch of knackers. Ruined Durham at local and national level. Never voted for them since 2007 and doubt I ever will again.

Although a historical socialist movement, I'm presuming tomorrow's events wont directly involve the Labour Party?

I doubt they will be directly involved however the Labour Party grew out of the early workers associations like the miners and the policies of labour today are closer to those campaigned for by the NUM and others when the wealthy called all the shots. A situation not dissimilar to today.

There were plenty on here backing him and others from the DUM IIRC.

Threatening to take a banner away from the SOL... like any fecker would give a shiny shite!
Except you of course, hence this post

The banners are not the Labour party

Whens the ship yard banners getting a parade, or those for joplings, pyrex, binns and woolies?
I think they probably have to knock up a banner first, I could be wrong though

If your going go, if you dont want to go dont,

I'm not going early for it but fair play to others that want to.

It is associated with political views which folk are free to agree or disagree with. It's just not for me

And I would suppose those attending will be labour party members. Btw just to let you know I'm not a tory as I despise the twats. I voted labour for years and will again once Corbyn and his Cronies have gone..
