I'm an Ayoade fan and find Merchant annoying (assuming you mean Stephen not the one from Merchant Ivory films). Regarding Ayoade, you must have liked The IT Crowd?

Saw 1 episode and thought it was shite especially his character, he's unfunny as fuck on those quiz shows channel 4 do as well

I'm watching it again now but I've never found Ayode funny in any thing he does, that 1st reboot was better with Merchant imo

He tries a bit too hard i reckon is what it is

Since the IT Crowd, he's done some shows on Channel 4. One is Gadget Man, in which he reviews gadgets, along with another comedy person and the other is Travel Man in which he and another comedy person travel somewhere for a long weekend.
