The chronicle pissing on the takeover

If the arrangement goes through as described I see Donald and Methven's retention of a few shares as an attempt at some face saving. If the Club recovers while they are still connected with it they will no doubt claim some credit for that whether they actually deserve it of not. It's pretty clear that they won't care what we think its how it comes across to others.

If they completely end their association with Club now then it would be clear to all that they have failed pretty miserably. Besides if the Club picks up they may even make a bit on the side if they still have a share or two.

I don't think Donald will end up with much of a say if he is no longer the majority shareholder as in business when it comes to money there is little room for sentimentality

Talking some horseplop you mind.
You've no idea how the deal is structured, who is "clearly" in bed with who or whether there's "clearly" a move by anyone around anywhere.
You're also insulting the integrity of a respected poster.
Nobody knows. That's the point.

I know who the majority shareholder is at our place for example, but they don't run the show day to day. For example Rodwell is apparently in complete control at the club now and he has no shares at all.

As you say, nobody knows, yet it's apparently very clear to some on here.
How can Rodwell be in complete control? He's an executive, doing the job he's been appointed to do for a salary, that's all. He's in charge of day to day matters within the remit of his position, and could be sacked tomorrow, hardly complete control.

I think that The Chronicles view from James Hunter is fair enough if you read it.
The one thing we don’t want as supporters is one or any of the present idiots involved in the day to day running our club if this takeover does happen.
Thread title was pissing on our chips.

Hunter is doing that , along with a few on here.

Nobody wants those two having a say but why does anybody think it's dragged on so long.

Northern Echo report is more factual whereas Hunter just bleats on about is it a real takeover .

Well if reports are true then it is and those two greedy bastards will just be shareholders. Which unfortunately is best we could get.

Maybe he does. Don't like it but if he's an underling then fine.

Got to trust they don't want to buy a club and mess about. Will see.

Technically it's a takeover. Anything over 51% is a takeover iirc. According to the French media Sport Group have started interviewing candidates for the Sporting Directors position. I wouldn't be surprised if Sport Group run the club and/or a few ex-Marseille employees come on board.

But until the deal is done we won't know.

I do find it amusing that it's always the negative posters who'll happily attach themselves to anything remotely negative such as the chronicle article as justification despite that article being nothing but another take on it, rather than factual. I

Anything which involves someone other than Stewart Donald as majority shareholder is a takeover. Clearly, we have a large subgroup who appear to believe that only having a single shareholder would count. And if changes to the board mean that the former majority shareholder is no longer on the board, it's a damn sight more than a "reshuffle".
In essence there's one newcomer who granted has a few quid, but whichever way you spin it the main players who've presided over the shambles of the last 18mths are still there.

Exactly this. People keep flagging Methven had large influence and only owned 6%. I think this is wide of the mark really, Methven held his influence due to his position in the business not his shareholdings, in the same way that Tony Davidson et al had influence.

At last, someone who gets it. Methven has had zero influence since he left the board, even if he has shouted from the sidelines from time to time. For the last 12 months, it's been the Stewart Donald show. Juan's been invisible because that's the way Donald wants it. Around this time last year, Donald said "Juan is back, and he's being very vocal". I'd suggest that recent events indicate that whatever he was shouting was unwelcome and being completely ignored, and he's acting now to protect his money in the game. Digging into the numbers in Madrox's accounts, it's clear that the much vaunted £3m was not payment to Donald for his shares in Madrox, but a loan to Madrox to pay his share of the price for the Sunderland shares bought by Madrox. After the write off, there was a residual balance due to Sunderland of £2.4m; press reports last year suggest that this amount was repaid by Sartori. So, that means he's put in £5.4m, and his reward has been to have Donald ignore him, and go merrily on his own way regardless. It was widely rumoured that Donald and Methven fell out after the playoffs. It would now seem that Donald has now fallen out with Sartori as well. They're all very far from in bed with each other. Sartori is doing this as a way for him to safeguard his own investment by bringing in more like-minded partners.

Yeah. Good things happening it seems.

They ain't stupid and will know the mess needs sorting and they will know through many discussions that SD and CM are not liked.

They won't rely on them but would not have got club without providing the tossers a nest egg unfortunately
