My god, beneath all the shit wind ups you really are a dribbling fuckwit aren't you. A proper thick fuck. You areas dozy as you look.

Forget football. Go take up another hobby. This game has passed you by.

Just the kind of inarticulate obscenity you would expect from the ignorant morons on here who are unable to engage in any sort of discussion. The op has made a well argued post, you are the one who needs to improve the quality on this board by leaving it - permanently.

I can't quite believe it but I'm actually starting to warm to the idea of McLaren. We all want a name to excite us, an up and coming young buck but if you slow down and think about it that type of coach comes with massive risk, Di Canio being the all too recent proof of that. McClaren isn't without risk of course but he comes with experience, a reasonable track record and a boring, safe pair of hands is possibly best for us right now. And for those, including myself, who question his failings both at England and club level, just remember that a successful record elsewhere doesn't always (ever!) translate into success here - see McMenemy, Wilko, MON, Di Canio.

I'm still not convinced but it's not the terrible idea I first thought it was.
If by that you mean going down without a fight, then aye, agreed

i would go for McClaren because he is a safe pair of hands the way i see it we are bottom of the Premiership and out of all the names mentioned he has experience of being at this end of the premier league, however unlike, Tony Pulls will not play the sort of football that would make most fans here who have seen long ball before commit suicide. he may have failed at forest but there were some things going on there at boardroom level which i think is sort of the story going round at the moment, in Germany he took a risk it didnt pay off fair enough i reckon, but from his time with FC Twente he was able to win thing s with them. and they have had the same sort of idea we have at the moment get young players in and then move them on for cash that's what Sunderland is doing these days right ?, and then you look at his time at middlesbrough it seems to me a miracle that he can take a team that before him needed Terry Venables to come in and keep them up to go from there and transform them into a top 6 side and take them in to Europe by winning a cup hold on a moment there we would be all happy with that, A trophy for the first time in 40 odd years so that ticks a box for me in fact throw stable football and playing in Europe ticks 2 more, but at the end of the day some people will never get past his time with England his star may not be what it was but here is a fact that some of us may not take to kindly to so i am ready for the abuse but neither is our star what it was all in all for me he is the best candidate for the job. but this is Sunderland after all so who knows who we will get.

If we're going down the has beens of mclarens ilk then hoddle would be my choice as he has the teams set out to play a certain style. The style is very similar to what di canio was trying to instill, however the formation wouldnt be as naive as he likes a five man midfield.[DOUBLEPOST=1380009167][/DOUBLEPOST]
What makes you think hed be a good head coach. Not first team coach, head coach.

His job would be to coach the players, train them and get in a system. Pretty much what he did with Man Utd. Who else is out there? Mancini wouldn't touch us with a shitty stick, Di Matteo doesn't seem interested, Poyet could be another PDC, McLeish, Pulis? Zola wouldn't be a bad shout or maybe Solsjkaer with an experience number two. But McClaren in as a short term is the best option open to us.

Of all the people currently available,Mc Claren would be my choice.British, understands the north east football scene, and has relevant experience. He'd pick up the accent quickly too..

He didnt choose any system at man u. Not whatsoever.

It seems jarvis was actually serious about mclaren and some people agree.

Jesus christ.

McClaren wouldn't have been in my top six preferences but jarvis' OP has got me wavering. he's now a maybe.

If we're going for shit has beens then hoddle would be a better shout than mclaren. Most options would. Hoddle isa great ttactician who has a clear philosophy on how to play the game. It has some resemblance to di canios too but he loves a fluid 5 man midfield. We need to have continuity in how these head coaches approach the game, much like swansea with their last few managers. Chopping and changing that will only have us heading one way.

How does shteve like to approach the game?

So the people who dismiss someone like McClaren who it appears within the game is generally considered to
be a good coach.Who is available that they think we should get? I'm talking who realistically would come here.

They finished 7th once. Every other year they finished in the bottom half.
