The case for Steve McClaren

From Paolo to Steve; it's liking having a fling with Marilyn Monroe and marrying Ann Widdecombe.
Yup, we should go for another basketcase italian from lower leagues who used to beat his managers on regular basis because he didn't liked their tactical changes. But yes, he looked cool in a suit and wears nice sunglasses...

Yes, Id be happy with MacLaren - I suspect he'd be happy working under a DoF which would allow him to spend more time coaching.

If he's so good why hasn't it happened for him yet? as a premiership manager that is. His career is in tatters.

The McChis mclaren option is starting to look a good one. Low risk.
Eh? As low risk as bilko. When he was boro manager his teams were as dull as dishwater and had no shape. He was tactically clueless. His last job in england was a disaster in the championship. He was shit in germany before that and the same in holland afterwards. He cant speak italian. Hes a poor manager. An even worse head coach. There's nothing safe about it. The parralels with bilko are almost uncanny.

Jarvis liked bilko as well.

I've said a few times now that McLaren ticks the most, possibly all of the appropriate boxes.

He's definitely the one on paper and also the one I would appoint.

But he hasn't been anywhere near the shortlists previously and I'm wondering if someone influential at the club doesn't rate him.

i think he'd be fine for us[DOUBLEPOST=1380007652][/DOUBLEPOST]

well he won the league cup with boro, they were very lucky but also got to the uefa cup final, England and forest is a where he really failed but won a few titles at twente I think.

He just looks dull as dishwater

Is this:
He has built an excellent reputation as a first team coach. Read comments from any of the Man U players he was involved with if you need reassurances. Good tactician and organiser who earns his money on the training ground rather than the press room - exactly what we need

His age and experience. Successful spell with boro, never took them down and took them not only into Europe but to a European final. Yes, boro. The England thing doesn't bother me, in act he's probably a better coach/manager for the experience. I also don't think he'd be taking the job to further his career, buggering off at the first opportunity of a more attractive (southern based) job. RDM and GP probably would.

I think he'd 'get' safc having lived and managed in the north east. I wouldn't underestimate the benefits if this. We really need stability, 5 years minimum with the same guy. It's 50% likely we will go down this season while there has to be a chance short and the Italians will fuck off within the next couple of years. Mclaren could potentially steer us through this IMO.

He isn't tony Pullis.

.. read the title not the substance .. he wasn't good enough for Boro fans so why the fuck would he be good enough for Sunlan .. and just who's gona jump for the long balls, he has relegations stamped all over him ..

From what we have been linked with I would probably go for him in all honesty.

What else can we expect he position the club appears to be in. Not many going to be queuing round the block to take charge.

Need stability.

He was fired at twente within a season when he went back. A real hero. He was shit in germany and coming back he turned out to be shit.

Jarvis you have just confirmed my opinion of you

Are we to ignore his poor spell at Wolfsburg and his awful time in charge of Nottingham Forest?

Don't really know what happened at wolfsberg but weren't they in the champions league at the time or Europe so a different level to say...us propping up the premier league. And he was managing in Germany which he won't be here, unless we uproot. As for forest it was a big mistake, I think doughty was in charge at the time and there were several constraints including transfer policy, so it's a valid point, he'd have to be comfortable with the set up here from the get go.[DOUBLEPOST=1380008268][/DOUBLEPOST]
My god, beneath all the shit wind ups you really are a dribbling fuckwit aren't you. A proper thick fuck. You areas dozy as you look.

Forget football. Go take up another hobby. This game has passed you by.
It would appear GK that you are in the minority on this one. Out of interest who would you go for. I will refrain from abusing you, regardless of your answer.

Lets also ignore his second spell at twente. Lets ignore the shit spells and his four season career looks great. If you ignore the shit football and the tragic impact he'd have on attendances.

Its almost like we don't learn. Let's just do the same thing over and over again and wonder why we always end up shit.

Well what's your views on who we should get in, instead of being a complete knob jockey trying to be a smart arse.
theres been a hundred threads on this subject already. Im not giving my opinion in all of them just to appease you

So who...?
