The Brazilian Ronaldo

Best in my lifetime have been Maradona, Zidane, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

For me, Maradona just shades it based on how he could drag average teams to big wins, almost single handedly.

No which is the better player. Fundamentally very debatable. I think the fact that Romario was better is also debatable but less so than that.
I think given that fat Ronaldo was only an unstoppable force for about 3-5 years, compared to Ronaldo and Messi doing it for over a decade must hold some weight in this argument?

Really? Genuinely interested in your top ten
Romario, Ibrahimovic, Van Basten, Weah, Van Nistelrooy, Di Stefano, Puskas, Henri, Pele, Suarez.

Lots of different forwards there with lots of different traits, just as an example of why saying unequivocally one is the best ever is a fallacy. (It's Romario by the way ;))

Has to be Van Basten (can't believe he's only been mentioned 2 or 3 times!) and Romario who was phenomenal but Marco Van Basten was better.

Messi needs to win a World Cup to be GOAT.
Can Cristiano Ronaldo carry his nation to a World Cup?
No and No.

Ronaldo won 2 World Cups. Scored 8 goals in 2002 win it for Brazil.

The Real Ronaldo:cool:

I’m not knocking him at all here but the Brazil team around him were outstanding.
He was great to watch and even before Robson took him to Barca he was a beast, he only got better after that.
The 98 final done something to him

The pressure was too much. He should never have played in that final.

There’s a lot of rumours about sponsors forcing him to play etc. Imagine how good he would have been if he could handle that much pressure.
I know it’s different on Messi and Ronaldo because they are by far the best players in their country. Ronaldo (Brazil) had to live up to a high standard while having a team of world class players. I know that might seem easier but if Messi drops his game he can still look half decent. In that Brazil team it would be easy to look bad even at full effort

(If that makes sense)
