The Brazilian Ronaldo

Hes never been as good as the other was at his peak, which is the point of the thread. Before his inhljury he was going past four and five players regularly like they weren't even there. Stats wise this one is ridiculous tbf.

If you're saying Cristiano was never as good as Luis at is peak, I think you're wrong there too. The former scored more goals - and this was when he wasn't playing as a centre forward too.

The sheer consistency of CR is unbelievable. He's a goal a game for Madrid, the highest European Cup goalscorer and the second highest international goalscorer of all-time (joint, with Romario, who he will no doubt pass in the coming weeks). He's better than Messi for me.

Anyone that remembers him surely knows this is true. Truly phenomenal.

His last year at Barcelona, first year at Inter, on another level. And in Italy the game was all about defenders, who could hold and boot you to fuck.

Now you're just fishing

Romario was absolutely class.

I'm not just talking about goals though. The Brazilian was much much more than a goal scorer.

This Ronaldo stats, as I've said, are ridiculous, albeit in an era now all in favour of the attacker. But he's never been as good a player as the Brazilian at his best.

I'd say Ronaldo is the second best Brazilian player of all time after Pelé. If Ronaldo didn't get those bad injuries when he was at Inter he'd been the best of all time. He had the speed of Messi and the power of Cristiano Ronaldo. But was a better finisher. He also did it at 2 World Cups and got 8 goals in 2002 alone!

Goals is a pretty objective measure though, in an argument that is ultimately subjective. For me, the destructive impact of the two Ronaldo's at peak - Cristiano was better. He was playing on the wing then - and still scored more.

If you want a Brazlian player who really did touch heights at Barcelona I've not seen from perhaps anyone else - even if only for a season or so - then you need to add "inho" onto the name.

Nah. As others have said, at his peak, a phenomenon.

In his only season at Barcelona he scored 47 goals in 49 games. Only Messi has done better! And if you are saying that Cristiano is a winger and a better goal scorer than you have to say Messi is better than both because he is not a striker but has more goals and assists. Also, Ronaldo's record on the international stage at major tournaments is much better. Cristiano's record is poor at major tournaments and Messi's is OK. Up until Friday night Ronaldo had scored more goals in 1 World Cup than the 2 of them combined. He also has 2 World Cup medals and 2 Copa Americas too.

CR's pace when they are on the break is incredible. The number of times you see somebody miles ahead of him taking the ball down the wing and he makes up staggering amounts of ground to get into the box for the cross...Stupidly quick over short bursts but must be one of the quickest once he is out of the blocks and in full flight.

I think I remember seeing that he was the quickest in the premier league when he was at Utd.
