The big match revisited

The big match revisited is on now, muddy pitches, dirty strips and shorts, bloodcurdling tackling and slightly tubby blokes with terrible haircuts.

ITS WONDERFUL!
A bit slower but......how many of todays pretty boys would survive a crunching tackle by one the 70s/80s tough guys, most would run a mile if Tommy Smith or Norman Hunter even came close

I just watched the 1975 North London derby, between Arsenal & Tottenham.
An absolutely insipid match, played on a farmers field of a pitch, and with zero passion from the players and zero atmosphere from the fans.

Notice how when forwards charged into the penalty box they hurdled an outstretched leg.
Notice how quickly the ball was moved towards the opposition goal and the number of times teams swapped posession.
And how good the post match interviews were. My personal favourite was the interaction between Alan Durban and Jimmy Frizzel after an abandoned cup tie between Stoke and Oldham.
