The weekend edition of the FT is £5.10. Had to get one for a customer the other week. It's not even like the big Sunday titles that weigh a ton.

I get the Sunday times and it's probably 50% of what it used to be.

Walked past a lass today selling the big issue. I had a couple of coins in my pocket and thought she needs this more than me. So I went back and asked how much it was - £4!

Its been a while since I bought one but 4 quid was a surprise.

I thought it was supposed to be a temporary thing for people who've fallen on hard times and need a helping hand to get back into employment etc., then the pitch would go to another one needing help.

Some of the sellers round here have been doing it for years.

Same round here, some young lass gets dropped off daily, unfolds her camping chair and sits outside the village co op dressed like a Romanian peasant from the 1930s flogging em
still, she’s prompt, normally there for 8:30 am and gone by 5

Used to be anyone at risk from homelessness, including people who are housed but don't have secure tenancies iirc.

The lassie who sold local to me was missing one week, i asked her stand-in where she was, "flown home to Romania to visit her children".
