His drumming on some of those 1977 USA tour bootlegs is insane. Sounds like a pneumatic drill and cannons being fired off not soneone hitting some drums.

used to drink in the Dun Cow in Durham City in the early 70's. Tiny bar.
I was in my 20's and wasnt bothered about music. but this old lad was obsessed with Buddy Rich and other locals would shout the odds about Ginger Baker.
Anyhow one Saturday dinnertime he turned up with his drumsticks and entertained everyone for ages using the drumsticks and the seat of a wooden stool. Captivating.
Jackie Rowan was his name, not that anyone will know him

You’r opinion mate but have to disagree, Billy Cobham was the best drummer I’ve seen live , saw him at a drum workshop, his opening solo consisted of double and triple paradidles / single hand rolls etc , when he finished this solo he picked up the mic and asked “ have we any drummers in here tonight “ , the place just fell silent
