Surely you can see the value of their contribution though
You might hate the music but it's hard to dismiss their influence

course I can mate, just cos they ain't my cup of tea does not mean I don't respect them

one of them bands people think it is fashionable to like, the last time you listened to them was?

Shite

Anyone who thinks it's fashionable to like the Bee Gees needs a CT scan ASAP.

Could never understand the falsetto. They were pretty harmonious for three white blokes then Barry comes out with Stayin Alive singing like he caught his balls in a mangle - why?

first time wasnt Stayin' Alive, it was actually pre-SNF with Nights on Broadway ;)

In the mid 70's The Bee Gees had run their course. At the time there was no demand anymore for white blokes in bands doing what they had been releasing since the 60's.
The cool sound at the time (mid 70s) was the Philadelphia Sound, or Philly Soul, with bands like The Trammps (my favourite from that period) and Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes topping the US R&B charts.

While recording a new album (called Main Course) which had a more soulful direction, they began mucking around during end of recording Nights on Broadway and Barry started using that falsetto voice. The rest is history ... ;)

To many white people the very first Philly Soul influenced album they ever bought, later they called it Disco, was one from The Bee Gees

The whole disco era (of which the SNF album at one point was selling 7 million albums a week worldwide  ) relaunched The Bee Gees to a totally new audience.

respect where its due, but unlike vast majority of artists and bands, The Bee Gees became top sellers across the world in more than one genre!

i think its the other way around ;)

NME readers for example think its fashionable to dislike bands like The Bee Gees. Its understandable because more than likely they are fashion victims and/or NME readers

Watched the doc last night. I like how they dismiss the criticism and are proud of their success, Forgot how good those disco tracks are.

The whole disco era (of which the SNF album at one point was selling 7 million albums a week worldwide  )

And there still wasn't enough stock, it was bootlegged loads aswell.

Philly Soul is superb like.
