The BBC

You and the other boot lickers can pay into a subscription service likely at a higher price when the license fee is scrapped eh Davey
Oof! 😄
This was brilliant and hugely useful during covid.
The littleun could read before starting school, largely down to the BBC.
Still got the alpha/number block theme tunes in my head. :(
My mind boggled at how no two Night Garden episodes were the same when our kids were that age! There must’ve been thousands of em

As much as I think the BBC is often biased towards the right, I think it’s an absolute institution in every other way. Worth the fee alone for Cbeebies.

I’m yet to come across someone who hates the BBC that isn’t an obvious wrang’un

I'm glad you can't.
why?

the thing i find about the BBC is lefties think its right leaning, and the right think its left leaning. sounds balanced. there are a couple of gripes i have with it regarding the accuracy of their news posting but on the whole i think its a fantastic institution that provides a vast array of services across the world. bbc world service is great when you're homesick.

Yeah I think you’re probably right there. The bias I see tends to be around election time, especially when Corbyn was in charge of Labour. They werent even pretending.

there's something Corbyn has been involved in that i'd say the BBC is biased towards as well, but lets not derail the thread. there's an entire forum to pick up this topic on  edit: i agree regarding the wrangun part lol
I'm sure without an enforced television tax we'd never manage to train a doctor.
without an enforced NHS tax people could pay for their own ambulances rather than paying for everyone else's.

Think universal healthcare is a bit more important and justified then taxing a television set like. Infact its absolutely pathetic.

no it's a part of it, but a very important part imo. A lot of cbeebies/cbbc isn't just to entertain kids, but educate them. to lose the BBC would be a huge loss to the country as a whole IMO. other than the rabid anti BBC brigade, that is.
Idea for ya then tax funded education tv service at a fraction of the cost the rest of the BBC can go to a subscription model
