The BBC

Its an outdated funding method, thats all people are saying, im sure even you agree with that.
So you think the BBC is worth it and it’s the finding model, or it’s not worth the value? Struggling to understand what your stance on this is tbh.

The board is full of them marra, gives them a sense of moral superiority over people with a different opinion. It's odd, but it keeps them happy spouting it, a kind of comfort blanket.
Not a sense mate. A reality. An actuality.

I think it is an age thing. As I've got older I'm watching less and less conventional tv. I prefer a travel vlog on YouTube or a Korean drama on Netflix. I listen to a lot of BBC radio though.
The license fee is a bit archaic. A better idea would be to fund it from general taxation. The license is effectively a tax with another name It should be buried in everyday taxes then nobody can really complain if it's paid for like any other services we use. Also, especially in these times, it will be one less expense for people to worry about.

Other way around. Older people watch live TV more than younger people.

Under 35's almost never watch live TV choosing catch up or streaming services instead.

The BBC is planning to turn off the TV and radio signals in 2030 so unless you move to IPTV then live TV is finished then anyway. It's why ITV are really pushing ITV X lately.

Satellite and Cable TV will be next to join them, why Sky is pushing it's new IPTV and Virgin are ripping the whole cable network up and replacing it soon with proper Fibre.

Then you fall into the polltax problem . 5 people in house 1 tv licence . New method, 5 people pay tax

I like the BBC it’s the only outlet I trust for news.

I also pay for Netflix, Prime, Spotify and Hayu.

I watch the BBC more than any other source.

But that's got nothing to do with getting older their tastes change. They never had a taste for normal TV when they were young so nothing to change. Maybe as they get older their tastes will change to something else , who knows.

If five people in a household are of working age they are paying five lots of tax anyway. Even if they aren't working just about everything we buy is taxed. Kids buy a packet of sweets they are taxed.

The poll tax was a mistake that gave some households massive bills to pay. It's not really comparable with this. A penny or so on income tax for everybody would be nothing like that. Lowest earners would pay less and no annual bill to stump up.

Yeah ,paying tax on what you personally buy is fair enough
Depends on the tax calculation I suppose and the figure they want per head
I don't agree with the sliding scale tax either
The highest earners probably use less of the service

BBC News is basically North Korea levels of propaganda.

It should be reclassified as a comedy show with canned laughter added during each segment.

I trust the BBC and I am confident there are many other people do too.

Not just in this country but around the world.
