The 7 court cases we were/are involved in...

The Milton Nunez debacle was a positive success story compared to the Alvarez fuck up.

We’ve spent around 10 million quid on a player, and engaged in protracted legal battles over a player we’ve technically never “owned” or even wanted, but who would’ve actually been better than the club record signing we brought in the following season to the fill the same position.
Paid 3/6 million for a midget who wasn't even the right one. All relative but 3.6 million was a lot of money to us back then and we go no sell on. His wages were canny high too. One of a number of "questionable" signings from that era. Alvarez is looking like the worst deal we've ever done but its not an isolated one. We have a poor history and until our transfer business improves in a big way we'll continue to stuggle at best and at worst go backwards.

We should’ve just signed him, we’ve basically paid £20 million for nowt.

Well done Lee Congerton another mastermind signing.
Him and Poyet were evidently hell-bent on ruining the club. What kind of dilligence was carried out on the Alvarez deal anyway? He'd never turned up any tress either at Velez or Inter. And there are people who believe in Gus regardless.
What an awful window. Ricardo Alvarez (Inter Milan, loan), Sebastian Coates (Liverpool, loan), Jack Rodwell (Manchester City), Jordi Gomez (Wigan), Billy Jones (West Brom), Costel Pantilimon (Manchester City), Santiago Vergini (Estudiantes, loan) , Patrick van Aanholt (Chelsea) and Will Buckley (Brighton).

Anybody who thinks our owners are crap now need to remember the utter shambles of that Alvarez deal.....Has a club ever in the history of football ended up shelling out over £10 million in transfer fees and wages for a player they never owned?
[/QUOTE
Nothing to do with UEFA corruption then.

I really hope Stewie n Charlie sit down in front of the Fulwell73 cameras with a stooge/straight man and attempt to explain this inherited fiasco and their attempts to wade through it.
It’d do their reps the world of good and be compulsive viewing for EVERY football fan n owner/director. Be like turning a stone over....and I’m not blaming Alvarez one little bit.

I think Cardiff's Sala transfer could be much could be much more costly than the Alvarez deal.

Congerton DI Fanti and the ex chairwoman who’s name rarely comes up, total incompetents but well rewarded for it!

Could be wrong but think he was only 1.5 m. Laslande was around 3.6m as I recall. Both shit signings though in retrospect .

And who was that Argie that signed for big money around the time Julio arrived?
Can’t even recall seeing him play.

Matt Piper was another one. 3 mill plus and never completed a full 90 mins in any of the games he played

They were both the latest in a long and very expensive line trying to fill the shoes of Henderson. We got £19m for him and probably spent three times that amount on worse replacements.

Drumaville appointed an inexperienced manager who got us promoted to the PL in his first attempt. Gave us the biggest lift the club ever had when we were at our lowest.

Murray left us with a fantastic stadium and training facilities. Also appointed Peter Reid and got us to are best finish in 50 years.

Short over saw our longest stay in the top flight since the war. Made the 6 in a row possible and we were 45mins away from winning a major trophy.

I know they made mistake but they gave us some great times. And some of our fans need to remember that too. Donald and co haven't achieved anything yet.
Denis Smith picked us up from a lower ebb.

We made a profit on coates and van aanholt, 2 of the very few over 10 seasons.

Piper was probably just bad luck, looked good but injured almost straight away and never really recovered.

Shambolic, a very sad indictment of the club at that time.
Embarrassingly incompetent.
