Virtually every player get rotated at Ipswich. Wouldn’t read much in him not starting 1 in 5
I'm going to regret this, but while I accept that Ipswich are going great, the fact that Neil isn't getting regular football - for me - speaks to his level of ability. Now, for reference, I know first hand the amount of effort and commitment required to get to any professional level of sport so this is not any judgement on him, rather a comment on what is required at the elite level of sports.
He's a good player and being a championship level player, which is the level I believe him to be, is a massive achievement, and that's not a patronising comment either.
We just have to accept, as a club, that if we want to challenging for the top honours, then there is little room for sentiment. We need the best framework, the best coaches and the best players.
I'll footnote this by saying I've just finished watching the excellent movie Weapons with a glass or two of even more excellent Bordeaux, so while this makes sense in my head, it might not be so linear for anyone else.
