The brother of the Brits Thai wife, hired 3 goons for a pittance to off them, to settle a score and get his hands on some money is the jist of it all.

The 3 goons seen on CCTV, and found with the stolen Brits car, so not the brightest. Sadly, this type of thing isn't uncommon around these part, although normally the wife is in on it all.
