Thai cave boys

maybe the water forced them deeper in?

which is entirely possible but I still can't work out why they'd be in deep enough to be in a position where there's no turning back. Surely if they were just going to stick their head in and have a look then they'd see the rain and think "hmm, let's go home". They're all in football kits. Why would the coach suggest going for a look at the caves?

They were hardly dressed for it either.

I don’t see how leaving them there for 4 month is an option either. How can they survive that?

I'd prefer that to the diving option tbf, if they are given food they will be fine and all come out alive.

Still think drilling a hole down is the way

exactly. They've quite clearly just finished training & rather go home and get changed they walk into a cave and go deep enough to ensure that they can't get out once it starts raining. Flash flooding is by definition rapid but not rapid enough to trap 13 kids in unless they had already travelled a considerable way.

would drilling a hole not cause the whole system to "cave" in and collapse?

must be possible to do it safely somehow? I could be wrong. Where there is a will there is a way.

haul them up one by one with a pulley thing then, far preferable to this diving thing.

When push comes to shove I’d be surprised if they’re all agreeable to do the lengthy complex dive and some may well insist on waiting it out.

I wonder how much the rescuers will be able to do to make them comfortable in the meantime ?

I imagine food, clothes, warm blankets and airbeds would be possible, but anything much more than that, such as an internet link for instance, probably very difficult if not impossible.

I would disagree with that.
There’s been many instances of folk on the surface losing there lives very quickly because they weren’t aware of what was coming their way, so with little or no communication underground it could well occur only a short distance from the entrance.

800m down isnt it?

Why is this not an option?

The Chilean miners were 700 meters underground and it took about two and a half months to get them out, so there may be little time diffence between waiting it out and trying a similar operation.

I read that there are some natural cracks and crevices they are now investigating, might make the job easier if they encounter one in the right place.

This or wait it out would be my options.

Putting a phone line in for them.

Be able to get them ipads and light and stuff. They may get through a canny few boxsets

Bd able to run power into it i should think although if you want live electric running through that water im not certain

So all they’ll need then are a few ready, willing and able young lady divers to join them, to keep them satisfied and help improve their muff diving skills and they’ll not be too fussed about coming back out in a hurry.

Mental story

I was reading that its too risky to leave them there, as more rain leads to the obvious?

not correct?

Not necessarily.
I would think they’ll have a good idea what the maximum water levels could be from existing watermarks and if they thought it immediately urgent then they be taking more urgent action.
