Thai cave boys

One rescue diver has already died, the adult will most likely face criminal charges as are the people who allowed this insanity in the first place.

More rescuers could easily lose their lives.

Yes, I agree it's grim and I believe the reporting is inappropriate.

There's no need to keep showing live shots every morning.

I'll guarantee the reporting will be greatly scaled down if they start sending body bags down.
I’ve not been watching on tv but I can bet a few quid you’re taking Sky News?

I’d be surprised Burnley’s not there, the attention seeking hag that she is.

BBC havent been much better mind. Different reporter for each time slot it seems. I can never understand why when theres something like this on any of them feel the need to clutter up the place with useless bodies

There's something slightly unpleasant in the reporting of this story.

The breakfast shows are starting to make this like a weird form of the 'X-Factor'.

They keep focussing on how cute the little one is, how the eldest is keeping spirits up', etc.

It's all been promoted as a jolly jape despite the fact that one or more of the children could quite easily die.

It reminds me of these earthquake tragedies when hundreds die but it's all good because .....

"After 10 days, buried alive, this little boy was dug out ...... hooray!"

So that makes everything OK then ....
It’s the way they operate. Like humanising wildlife shows, giving wild animals names and projecting human emotions and scenarios into them. It supposedly engages us beyond just being a viewer but takes us in and invests us in the story being played out.

I don't watch Sky News mate, it was primarily this stupid cow on BBC, trilling away like it was a game of hide & seek.

As @EchoMan said there's nothing more to be said at the moment, just leave these brave rescuers alone to do their job.

They're under enough pressure without having cameras pushed in their faces.

Every morning there's another expert brought on to tell us it's dangerous being 3 hours deep in a cave system with impending rising waters

News TV reporting on massive news story shocker....

Absolutely no problem with that.

It's the shameless way they virtually ignore the poor bloke who needlessly died.

He isnt cute so let's forget him and concentrate on how cute the kids are.

Of course it's an important news story but the standard and tone of the reporting stinks imo.

Whether you like it or not, people's interest in the kids trapped in a cave must be of higher interest over here.
Don’t get me wrong, I get it. It’s the way the media operates. It’s the same when you get the “plane crashed in some foreign climes, no Brits dead or injured... and finally, look at the cute panda baby ...”

There is more public interest in the trapped boys - simple as that.
See above ^^^

The reason there’s more public interest is because it’s been engineered to be so.

There’s probably more than a football team’s worth of Rohingya kids being driven out of their villages as I type, probably a couple of centre halfs in Somalia being taught to fire an AK47, probably a netball team worth of early teenage girls in Afghanistan being raped by some “uncle”, but that’s for another time, another agenda.

We see what they want us to see.

I forgot to mention the baby Panda is called Xi Pin which means “hope” in Chinese. Mother and baby are doing fine and it’s hoped the cute little baby will be on show to the public next month. Tickets available on line.
