Some media outlets called it an act of terrorism, the problem in america is that there are so many mass shootings it's not always immediately obvious it is terrorism.

Whereas a guy shouting allahu ackbar tends to be a bit more of a giveaway.

Fair point though.

The ones that came to mind for me were the finsbury park mosque which I believe most media outlets called a terrorist incident and Anders brevik which was obviously terrorism.

Not to mention that apparently last year more far right types were arrested under terrorism offences in the uk than islamists. So the police obviously think they are of a similar yolk. They don't have a special category.

Most of the western world react that way, whenever a cop talks about it they always say it's down to intense training.

In the U.S it's repeatedly found that cops aren't trained enough, they're let loose with a gun.

It's an improvable problem over there but governments are just unwilling to do it.

I think its down to that firearms are everywhere there and everyone is desensitised to it. Over here they are a strange if not feared weapon and are treat with more respect and with safety more in mind

Possibly, I still think alot of it could be fixed by better training standards. listening to Michael wood Jr talk about this problem is a real eye opener. Militray Veteran turned cop who exposed the inherent racism of institutions and poor quality of policing in baltimore that directly leads to more people and specifically black people being accidentally killed during routine stops and interactions.

He says the insuitutional racism encourages interactions between cops and black people then the poor training leaves them unable to effectively deal with situations where tensions can rise.

Just as well the 'terrorist' was an amateur, imagine a well organised/prepared terrorist up against those cops.

Couldn't you just call all Islamism a mental illness? Do we class most of Pakistan, the Middle East, North Africa as mentally ill?.....

No, because there are many million upon million peaceful muslims who go about their day to day lives just being normal peaceful people. Its just the idiots get the headlines. The erroneous message people on both sides of the extremist divide want to portray is an "us against them" belief....To recruit people. But a peaceful society can only succeed with everyone working together to stamp out the ideology that encourages conflict on people religious beliefs.
It might seem out-of-the-box thinking but many millions of muslims around the world are actually peaceful!
