Should give Elmo and Richardson a go at full back. Ferdinand and Bardsley there couldn't be any weaker.

Would quite like us to do that at least once before the season is over, two overlapping fullbacks would make us so much better going forward.

Mignolet
Elmohamady Turner Mensah Richardson
Sessegnon Cattermole Zenden Malbranque
Gyan

Looks a more balanced side.

10 men, we've only got 10 men.

steed for muntari
richardson for henderson

mignolet
ferdinand
turner
mensah
bardsley
sessegnon
rico
cattermole
steed
gyan
welbeck

most probable line-up atm

Disappointed not to see Zenden in, and the more you look at that back line the more it makes me queasy, particularly Mensah and Ferdinand, but that's a lot closer to the side I'd like to have seen us playing for a little while. Let's just hope Richardson has his one good game in six tomorrow.

would be happy with both changes, I think we have missed Steed's energy and Rico's pace

That's better ;)

Agree with the fulbacks. Players who can overlap at pace going forward and also have the pace to get back.

A back 4 of Fedinand, Turner, Mensah & Bardsley has no pace, 3 centre halves and a right back playing left back - a pedestrian back 4.

Not sure what Zenden has to do to get a game, he'll be off in the summer I'm sure of that. Bruce simply hasn't given a quality pro enough game time.

Sums it up very nicely. It's a shame Bruce doesn't see it like this.

To be fair to Bardsley, he's looked three times the player at left back this season that he ever has at right back, really made the position his own. As much as the rest of the defence worries me (Turner half fit, Mensah looking like a shadow of his former self, Ferdinand being, well, Ferdinand) I have absolutely no complaints with Bardsley at left back.

It's actually bizarre, has he had a single bad game for us this season? He's our only real goal threat from midfield, he doesn't look as if his legs have gone and although he has lost pace is not slow.

Always look a more composed side when he plays too.

Don't worry about it mate, it's just some people can't admit when they're wrong. ;)

I actually can't think of any explanation to him hardly playing other than it's been decided not to renew his contract and Bruce doesn't see the point of giving him starts, although even if that was the case you would still try and utilise his quality, nobody can tell me Bruce seriously thinks he's a lesser footballer than Henderson, Cattermole and Elmohamady

Definitely better

Elmo isn't the best defender but with Bardsley at left back it's strange he hasn't been given a go at right back because as it is we have no attacking threat from our defence at all. Our fullbacks don't overlap and our centre halves are not being given a chance to be threatening from set pieces.

Hardly surprising we don't score much.

He's our best midfielder. He really is.

I've stood up for Bruce re tactics, but if there's one thing makes me question that decision it's his use of Zenden

He's made it his own because we have no one else to play there aside from Richardson who has been required in midfield more often that not this season.

He started off well in the left back spot earlier on this season, but as time as gone on his limitations are becoming more and more apparent. Him plus another right footer on the left hand side just does not work at all; I'd much prefer to see him getting forward at right back overlapping Sessegnon with Richardson on the other side overlapping Malbranque.

With Bardsley at LB and Onuoha/Ferdinand at RB we have almost no width whatsoever, and recently it's been costing us any opportunity of creating worthwhile attacks.
