Tammy Abraham

Well, I'm not sure Atsu is so shit that his parent club wouldn't expect him to start more games in the 2nd tier than he did. Unless you're suggesting he's not even Championship standard? Which, if you are, is a nonsense.

There are quite a few assumptions going on here;
  1. There is an appearance clause
  2. It's c75% appearances
  3. He won't make those appearances
  4. There'll be a prohibitively expensive penalty when he doesn't make those appearances
Even if there is a clause, even if Abraham isn't good enough to start enough games and even if there is some kind of financial penalty, it still won't be enough of a concern to make this a bad deal.

I have to repeat. If he's good enough to start he'll start, if he's not, he won't. The rest of it is just noise. If that means that Benitez and his scouts judged him poorly prior to signing him on loan, then that's on them, but they won't risk Premier League survival by playing a lad they don't want to for fear of upsetting Chelsea.

Anyway how much do you predict the financial penalty would be? £500k? £1m?

Well of course they are assumptions, I'm not executing the contract mate. I've heard 75% banded about before and I wouldn't be surprised if it's at least 75%, some clubs may even expect the player to make an appearance in every game. They can do what they want providing it's agreed to, they may even reduce the loan fee providing they receive assurances in writing that the player will be playing on a regular basis.

Januzaj continued to play despite being poor, I'll be surprised if there wasn't an appearance clause included within his loan contract.

I forgot, your club is utterly scandal/embarrassment free isnt it.
Never claimed it was. Just idly observing the changing attitudes (and board presence) of you and your brethren - whilst pointing out that we won't have to put up with this cocksure attitude for too long.

So if the agreement isn't kept we'd have to honour the fee without a "play him loads discount"? That's not a big problem though, is it? This is my point, if there's an agreement and if it's not met, we can afford whatever penalty they put forward. And the only reason he won't start is because he's not good enough, which means there's someone else that is.

re: Januzaj, was he picked because Moyes had to honour the agreement, or because Moyes didn't believe in his replacements? You weren't exactly stocked on the left wing, were you?

Aim me in the direction I said otherwise?

Here:

Tammy Tampon-Heed will be our player, not Chelsea's.

What if the penalty is £10m?

By saying i think you'll be better off signing a target man type forward than a young kid who's never played in the prem.

I just don't see how the move is going to benefit either Newcastle or Abrahams.

It can only be good for Tammy if he's going to be playing regularly, which if he is, i don't think that will help you at all.

Not bitterness at all, just putting my argument across.

Its quite bitter like, Abraham had a similar record to Gayle in a much worse side and while being younger, hes only going to get better.

Damned if he does well like as hell drop them like a stone if he gets anywhere near 15 goals next season, question marks over Ashleys backing with this signing I reckon.

If we were linked to players like that we would be coming up with all sort of excuses to justify it.

If he was foreign he'd be worth £100 million like Mpabbe. Ligue 1 isnt much better than the Championship
