Taking up fishing

Shore fishing. Best done at night, in the middle of winter and up to your knackers in freezing water. Hands so cold you can't feel owt, frostbite in your toes, and snow and wind howling around you.

Nowt better.

It's alright up your way. Nowt down here mate. Apart from the cold hands and knackers.

Barbel fishing for me.
Love fishing and would do more if it wasn’t for watching Swindon.
Some cracking fishing down here, all sorts but Otters are a f***ing nuisance.

Was thinking of giving this a go in my spare time for summat different to do.

My dad reckons I should use liquorice as bait as he used to catch all sorts when he used this particular technique, what do you think?

Make my own bait, particularly paste for Barbel.
Flavours have some success and give them a go. Mind you if a fish is hungry and the presentation is good you should get a bite.
Bream like Vanilla flavour
Tench Molasses flavour
Barbel Yeast flavour

When it is raining go under the Wear Bridge.....fish go there to keep dry out of the rain.

They prefer bertie bassets as bait as well with sherbet dips
