Takeover News/Rumours

I trust what the Guardian say, they were the first to highlight that the mags takeover was at risk and they were proven to be absolutely spot on. L'Equipe, another respected source have already confirmed things are progressing.
Not done like it was suggested and more importantly I don’t want SD, CM and JS anywhere near our club ever

didn't satori say when he first came in he wanted to link up with a Uruguayan club to pass on their good kids ? or am I imagining that ?
maybe the dumpy one and the posh one weren't happy about putting their hands in their pockets to fund it (no shock there)
that's probably why Juan has gone out and got his own investors to be able to properly carry out the plan he had
just a thought

From May 2020

His say is somewhere between slim and none, and Slim is out of town.
Thanks GOM. I thought that was the case. I’m holding on to the hope that he has seen what is going on with the current day to day running of the club and has become fed up with it all and has decided to fully step in with people who can do a proper rebuild.

That would be the one thing they got right if it were true. Its a farcical idea that anyone with a semblance of an understanding of how work permits in England work would know was a complete non-starter. One of the reasons Sartori being more involved concerns me. He hasnt a clue.

That's my line of thinking. SD has basically taken his money (he's put in about £5m) and pissed it up the wall.

Agree 100% but the worst thing short did and i still cannot forget that is that he sold us to those two knackers don & charlie!I Personally despise those two and i want them out of our club asap ,if it means letting them keep a small percentage as absentee shareholders well i could just about swallow that .......... They should however never ever set foot in the sol again and charlies should keep his mendacious toady mouth shut on everything SAFC. Santi has a lot to prove at this club as of now he has been about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. Please i ask everyone don't let them change the narrative in a year or so if we are doing much better as it should never be forgotten what a stain they have been and what harm they have done to our great club.
when the SAFC historians write about ownership this period it will boil down to:

Ellis Short tried and ultimately failed to establish the club as a Premier League fixture. He risked and lost tens of millions of pounds of his own money.
Donald and Methven bought the club as distressed and undervalued asset taking every precaution not to put at risk their own money. Every decision they've made has been intended to realise a profit while minimising their risk . The belief that they could run a promotion campaign from League 1 on a shoestring without risking their own capital is ultimately their downfall.

In the history of English football club owners they'll go down as self-interested, over confident, under financed & underskilled.

Short absolutely failed here and put us in this position but it was never through selfishness or malicious intent. He wrote off hundreds of millions when he could have left us to rot and go into administration like other owners have. He genuinely wanted to do well here and has an affinity to the club and its fans. He appointed the wrong people to trust several times over and ultimately his last bad appointment was Donald and Methven as the custodians he handed the club over to.

Instead of having an owner who wanted the best for the club and failed, we've got an ownership who want the best for themselves and are failing. Every decision they make is whats best for them and not the club. Parachute payments, academy players, fans and season tickets, everything is geared towards them putting in as little as possible so that when they do sell they make a profit. They then have the gall to slate sunderland fans for abusing them, make up stories of kidnap, refer to it as the "Sunderland disease", proclaim we're all "unbelievably uneducated in business" etc. They hate us and are openly ridiculing us yet we still have people defending them. They're a bunch of utter arseholes.
I think this paints a somewhat cuddly picture of Short mind. Not sure he wrote off hundreds of millions. It was between 100-150m wasn't it? Given what he does to earn a crust it would've looked pretty catastrophic to have the financial ruin of Sunderland AFC on his CV especially having taking in nearly a billion of Premier League cash in his time. He saved a lot of face by writing it off. He was also seemingly happy to take our parachute payments to mitigate his losses...parachute payments that are designed to help with the considerable mess he left us in with legacy contracts etc. And as you said he left us with the the worst owners in our entire history.
