What you think L'OM do, the kids don't stay
They also dont get sold off at 15 / 16 for around £100k. They get them in showcase and sell them for millions. We can't hold onto all of our players once the big clubs knock but we could at least try instead of encouraging it
We can't spend loads of money anyway. We need a turnaround in the recruitment side, top to bottom.
We can on under 21s!

That’s what people are complaining about, selling off kids to pay for running the club.
If you think that’s ok then that’s up to you, I and many others don’t.
A league 1 club can't sustain a cat 1 academy, there is a reason no other league 1 clubs have them, they are too expensive to run. Plus how do you know some of these players didn't want to leave. We should of downgraded to cat 2 academy once we failed in promotion the 1st time.

Other league one clubs don’t generate £20m plus in revenue man. Haway use your loaf. The club should have turned two profits the last two years and would have were it not for the parachute fiasco.

Use your loaf and look at our wage bill compared to the rest of the league!! Not saying we should of got rid of all these youngsters, but just like everyone else on here I have no idea which players wanted to go and which didn't, or if the club could of done more to stop them going

Ok , i get your point , to a point - but what's that got to do with
If you sell a youth player for £100k it means very little to a club of our stature. It doesn’t even cover the wages of one of the bang average plodders we sign to play in front of them, hampering their opportunities.

Were we to give them first team opportunities then we either get a player who doesn’t make the grade, a player who improves with us for free or his value increases and we can sell for a proper fee that allows us to sign better players than aiden O’Brien or Danny graham.

Look at Luke mathieson for rochdale. Played 10 games or so for rochdale and moved for £2m but the likes of Bali mumba who have more international recognition being flogged for less than £500k. How can you think that’s ok?

Agree we don’t know they all would have stayed but we do know the club could have done more. The fees we’ve got were a disgrace.

Our first season should have turned a £9m profit. There’s the academy paid for for that year. Our wage bill against turnover is quite healthy.

Look i agree with you , and it's the same at Ipswich, but of niether us are countries no 1 supported team ( yes i perfectly aware that you have a massive , passoniate and community baséd support, that's why i post on here ) , champions of our country and exposed to a huge international audience, via tv and média, and Internationals exposed to move coverage.

What arguments would you use as an agent

My point is that there is a huge difference in having a policy that produces world class players that can improve the side they play for over a period of time however short. The players coming through the ranks know they have a huge incentive to make it there and other youngsters feel that they want to play for and come through the ranks at that club.

we sell ours to pay the leccy bills.. What’s your point?

I'm not looking for an argument , but Drogba and Ribary went on to be very good , world class is a matter of opinion , players.

With all due respect, who or whom are you talking about?

We could have sustained a cat 1 academy had the club got parachute payments as intended.
We also have by far the biggest crowds in league one, we broke the transfer record for this level, the academy wasn’t prioritised because it doesn’t provide short term success.
Of course some players may well have wanted to leave, we did very little/nothing to stop them. That’s according to a parent on here, lots of rumours about the owners actively hawking players about and having spoken to a few people involved at that kind of level the general feeling was the club were at the very least happy to let most of these players go.

Yeah great idea, continue to recalibrate as a part of the furniture in league 1. Maybe we could restrict season ticket sales to a few thousand as well. Aim more towards the average for league 1, because after all thats what other league 1 clubs get. While were on, should we maybe accept less for sponsorship deals? Aim for something more along the lines of what Accrington might command.
