I really wish we'd stop worrying about kids who have opted to leave league one to play for Manchester United and Arsenal. I really don't get it. I've supported this club my whole life, would I have stayed at Sunderland's academy if United or Arsenal wanted me? No chance!

People at this stage are just using this as a petty excuse to have a pop at the owners.

The owners have contributed to it as well, it hasn't all been down to the profile of those teams.

The fund has been quoted in the press as over £2bn. That side of the Louis-Dreyfus family (Margarita and her children) is around £16bn. not counting any personal wealth of her new partner.

I should point out that none of FPP appear on any billionaire lists either - you can refuse to be listed on privacy grounds.
Surely he can at least get his twin brother involved, that's £4bn+

I've been thinking about something Donald said earlier "Juan is back, and he's being very vocal". I can't help but think that Sr Sartori has been less than impressed with events, but, at 20%, couldn't actually change anything.
Probably pissed off they wouldn’t let him build his academy filled with Uruguayan youth players that would never get a work permit to play for us.
Just caught up on this thread and I can't believe the amount of negativity! Anyone daring to dream a bit is instantly shot down. Handful of people are odd to say the least over any optimism. Couldn't be like that myself.
This club has a habit of dashing optimism to be fair. We’ve seen enough to kick it out of us.

Haway man, they accepted 350k for Mumba man

Totally agree mate. We could have built a side around these kids. How exciting would it have been to watch? Could have been what was.needed to make us competitive in the top end of the championship which currently feels a light years away.

I suspect the likes of greenwood is already at a level which is some way ahead of the likes of wyke.

Like.you say its indefensible.
What is more you can say the players had there heads turned but surely a clear path to regular football, the AOL, just the bloody stadium should have been attractive to them. Gooch and Hume are our best players and have a more certain future than Asoro despite Asoro being back in the day higher rated. OK Maja has been successful but that was off the back of playing for us (mind i firmly believe we'd be watching premiership football and owned by dell/santori if he'd stayed). That they felt the need to leave speaks volumes about SD.

I actually think people get a bit too hung up on the wealth side of things. I'm happy with it just being sartori and the new lad because, on their own, they must have approaching £3bn. At that point we don't really need loads of other billionaires with a share, all with their own ideas of how it should be run and all with different approaches. Let's say between the two of them they're happy to invest, for arguments sake, £150m. That should be more than enough to get us into the PL where clubs can start to turn a profit. The main thing we need is for football people to run the club day to day. It's the bit Short always fucked up. Get that right, good people with a large budget to spend sensibly, and we'll be on our way.

None. Other than “shortly”

Cheers for the updates throughout the process mate. The likes of yourself, Prehab, GG and the lads over the road will be delighted that this is coming to a conclusion now.
It would have been preferable if the current regime had been removed but hopefully they are now peripheral figures with no influence on strategy in future.

Maybe satori was just pissed off with being touted as the future money! By Donald. And in reality with his share base couldn't change that much and how much money do you plough into something you can't control. Plus yes he stood to make some money from his investment but who stood to make the most???? SD

Little update if anyone cares:

“Big plans”
“very exciting future”
“sleeping shareholder, no influence” (in reference to SD)

Once it’s been completed it sounds like they’re going to be pretty open about all these plans.

So let’s see... cautious optimism is my current state of mind

Good news.

I've long wondered whether Sartori always planned to get more involved but was quiet because he knew Donald and Methven were going to fuck it up and, when he made his move, he didn't want to be damned by association.

Grumps, you spend a lot of time simplifying and clarifying matters that some of us on here would otherwise not comprehend.
Thanks for continuing to do so.
I messaged you and a couple of others on here with the info that I had and could share to a point without risking it to a point that would jeopardise the deal. Think @Shirley Shammel and @Batmansafc were a few. @The Ghost of Arca too over the way I think.

Was doing the same behind the scenes over the road too.

Also, not being funny like but it got to a point where it was simply not worth it on the main board due to trolls and WUMs. There were also a couple of messages I got from others on this board that was informative too. So year, people to get to hear things.

Answered this in my last post.

Cheers for the updates on here and over the road mate. Much appreciated.

I don't smoke and was useless with lasses so that reduced my chances of catching a dose.
With that kind of money being useless with lasses doesn’t come into the equation marra.

I agree I was only joking with the £4bn comment.

Be interesting to see what approach they take, hopefully it's a big overhaul because we have been way behind for a long time, it might need a bit of cash short term to help us catch up.
