Even if none of them make it in the premier league, thats two levels above where we are. We could have given them a path to first team football in league one and they either; dont make the grade at all, become solid EFL players who we can keep and improve us for free like Hume, Gooch etc or they do outgrow us and we sell them for 10 time for what these shysters gave them away for. Its completely indefensible.
Totally agree mate. We could have built a side around these kids. How exciting would it have been to watch? Could have been what was.needed to make us competitive in the top end of the championship which currently feels a light years away.

I suspect the likes of greenwood is already at a level which is some way ahead of the likes of wyke.

Like.you say its indefensible.

I would guess the value and conditions of any trust are unlikely to be anything like common knowledge and Sartori doesn't appear on any billionaire lists I can see.

Not that it really matters they are clearly wealthy people.

The fund has been quoted in the press as over £2bn. That side of the Louis-Dreyfus family (Margarita and her children) is around £16bn. not counting any personal wealth of her new partner.

I should point out that none of FPP appear on any billionaire lists either - you can refuse to be listed on privacy grounds.

By the sounds of things the owners haven't even put up a fight and have just allowed any and all approaches. Whether they would stay or not is a different matter but if they're hearing the club has just accepted approaches without speaking to them then it's pretty obvious they aren't wanted. The club should be doing its absolute utmost to hang onto these lads, not flogging them because they don't intend being here long enough to benefit if they stay. It isn't a petty excuse to criticise them, it's literally one of the things people are most pissed off about, it's a major area of the club that we should be benefiting from and are instead simply funding something that will never produce whilst these owners are in charge.
Absolutely this for me like

I might be wrong here, but is it possible that SD and CM have put something in place where they keep a percentage of shares with part of the deal meaning they then sell them at a higher price should we get promoted to the championship.

Didnt someone post this the other day saying this was the reason it was holding up any potential deal or was on the verge of collapse

The only way this doesn’t bother you is if you’re not a Sunderland fan or are as thick as fuck.

Our new owner seems to have been involved in the club all his adult life, and I'm sure he knows a thing or two about what a successful club looks like (as opposed to Eastleigh FC). He probably knows a few football people who will be happy to help him out in his new venture too.
People from a successful dynasty like that (been millionaires since before SAFC was founded!) rarely make stupid decisions. As part of prising Don and Meth-van's fingers off our club, I'm betting he has an arrangement to buy their shares when the club is in the Champo so they can recoup their losses and save face. That, and the repayment of the FFP loan, will no doubt be reflected in the price they agreed.

Although it's early days I'd welcome any new blood to the boardroom.
Any capital injected to further stabilise the club and first team squad will also be fillip.
The appointment of a long term Chairman, Chief Executive, DoF should be the priority with support given to the existing management team.
Any talk of sackings is premature and would likely cause/extend any period of instability.

Spot on^^^
These appointments are the most important building blocks for a club with ambitions to go all the way. This season, I don't see the need for many sackings. As well as the above, I would settle for PP being told we have to score three goals in every game; the loan of a solid goalie and a shit-hot young striker from the French League in the transfer window, and a wise head installed at the Academy.
Happy Daze!

Shit hot striker from the french league you say? Do we know any of them?

People forget who is involved in Sartoris family as well, his wife and father in law not short of a few bob.
I know he hasn’t done much up to now but he only owned 20%.
If Donald wasn’t going to put large amounts in having a 74%, he certainly wouldn’t be throwing money about with a 20% share.

The reality is if it goes through we have some obscene money behind us now

Sadly we’re in a position where Category A academy youngsters we produce have more sale value than members of our first team squad as the bigger clubs will happily pay a relatively modest amount (in Premier League terms) for the potential, whereas we will no longer pay fees for first team players. Dobson for £100k was the last fee we paid I believe and look how that’s turned out. It’s not surprising they’ve used this as a way of generating short term income given what’s gone before. It’s always been about short term gain for these people.

Remember when our academy used to regularly loan players to league 1 clubs?

I've been thinking about something Donald said earlier "Juan is back, and he's being very vocal". I can't help but think that Sr Sartori has been less than impressed with events, but, at 20%, couldn't actually change anything.

That's one of the main complaints, they weren't arsed about the longer term because they never intended to be here that long so were happy to sell them to bring in cash now. All on the back of using the clubs money to buy the club in the first place.
