Takeover News/Rumours

I really wish we'd stop worrying about kids who have opted to leave league one to play for Manchester United and Arsenal. I really don't get it. I've supported this club my whole life, would I have stayed at Sunderland's academy if United or Arsenal wanted me? No chance!

People at this stage are just using this as a petty excuse to have a pop at the owners.
It’s the amount that are leaving. It’s the amount that don’t get near the 1st team, and it’s the amount of past sell by date plodders that replace them. Your statement is number 1 bullshit.

Bear in mind that only £1700 of these players' weekly pay counts towards the cap. Any new players coming in will have to have all their pay fit into the cap. It really doesn't matter if we suddenly have the cash to pay up contracts and pay big fees if we can only offer any incoming a player £2k/wk or so.
To get new players in until we get out of League 1 is there anything to stop us getting loan players from top clubs and paying a big loan fee with the parent club paying the wages?

Plus you sound like you would go and support those clubs too. Idiot.

Little update if anyone cares:

“Big plans”
“very exciting future”
“sleeping shareholder, no influence” (in reference to SD)

Once it’s been completed it sounds like they’re going to be pretty open about all these plans.

So let’s see... cautious optimism is my current state of mind
Any idea of completion timescales mate?

Question for @Grumpy Old Man. What would prevent the new major shareholder from buying out CM and SD soon after the takeover was complete?

You can only do that if you own more than 90%. They won't have enough shares.
I was wondering this as well. If the 60-20-15-5% numbers are correct I thought you could buy out all the shares in a company once you had 79% control and the other 21% could do naff all about it.

Could they even do anything about it even if it wasn't as long as they were bought for market value?

My knowledge is minimal to say the least bit I'm sure there is a number whereby it can trigger you being able to buy out everyone else. Short did it to our fans who had bought shares a few years ago.

Nope - it's 90%

Cheers mate appreciated
Things coming together.
Hopefully they'll bring in some proper footballing people.
Starting to sound like we might have something exciting to look forward to.

All sounds good ... but tbf it also sounds familiar to madrox good intentions. I'm all for giving the new lad the benefit of the doubt, he is after all putting a shitload of cash on the line in the middle of a global crisis. I hope he has better advisors and solid plans to get us into the championship. That modest aim is a test failed by supposedly capable business people we currently have .

I'm excited but supremely cautious,

I don't want Donald anywhere near this club regardless of power tbh. The thought of him hanging on riding the crest of someone elses wave, after his disaterous spell including voting to fuck the future of club and competitive football for a short term cash boost, makes me sick.

Excellent point, though I had the figure of 75% in my head. That could definitely be wrong though. If they can and don't, that would beg the question why? Awaiting GOMs answer.

That's the percentage needed to control special resolutions at general meeting as well as ordinary ones (where you need 50%)

What are the rules about loans from overseas clubs etc. in league 1/ Championship - Could we utilise the contacts in France and bring in some quality players (that are out of our price range purchase wise) without breaching the financial restrictions?

Brexit could be a major complication here. No one really knows how the new immigration and work permit rules will apply. Footballers don't appear to fit into any category which will pass the tests.

GOM do you think Glenn Fuhrman is still involved as an individual via his private investment house after his split from MSD capital, and or FPP, and how does the 10 mill loan fit in the new takeover I wonder?

I might be wrong here, but is it possible that SD and CM have put something in place where they keep a percentage of shares with part of the deal meaning they then sell them at a higher price should we get promoted to the championship.

Kyril is once his trust fund matures (probably when he's 25). The fund is worth a bit over £2bn. Sartori gets there on a valuation of his Uruguayan companies.
I would guess the value and conditions of any trust are unlikely to be anything like common knowledge and Sartori doesn't appear on any billionaire lists I can see.

Not that it really matters they are clearly wealthy people.

No idea on the first point, although there are rumours of further consortium members who are anonymous so far. So far as the loan is concerned, it will sit on Madrox's books until it's repaid, although any fans' concerns about the ability for it to be paid should be eased (to put it mildly).

Fuck right off.
