Takeover News/Rumours

I get the 'don't completely hate on SD' angle. We all knew who he was when he took over and were generally happy with it - a slightly rich football owner with a plan to get us out of league one, bring in outside investment and eventually see us succeed.

Sure he kind of sucked at getting us out of league 1, and the bit where he flogged all the kids is pretty unforgiveable, but still... it's not been too bad. No, it has, it's been really bad. But we expected that, surely? We were relegated from the Championship as a f***ing husk of a club, I think most of us, realistically, (especially those of us in Sheffield who've watched this for both clubs here) thought it would take about this long to stabilise. We dropped from Div2 a broken, broken club, and were only a goal away from promotion in the first year at the end of the day.
The same narrow, knife edge margins of defeat and missed promotion also show how easy it could have been for us with only a couple of slight tweaks or 1 or 2 fewer catastrophically inept decisions.

I still think we had a squad more than capable of getting out of L1 at the first attempt , if only on the number of ex Premier and International players alone .
I know it didn’t happen, but that was due to other factors , not our “state” when we went down , imo.
Those other factors were our state though IMO. I've no doubt that group of players, under different circumstances, could have 1. not been relegated from the PL, as Allardyce showed, 2. not been relegated before Burton by Burton from the Championship, and aye, we were only a goal away from immediate promotion.

By the same token that we could have kept Maja and gone up, we could have had Parky and not JR from the start, never really played Maja before he left, and been a mid-level Div3 club from the first attempt.

With respect to you both, you are part of our shame and failure. We'd like to bury you under the patio and then dance on top.

Metaphorically of course.
That's a bit unfair on Doberman tbh. He was a junior member of staff and was only there for 6 months or so.

When we see the kids they sold off for pennies flourish in the premier league over the next few years time will almost certainly not be kind to them.
Don't think any of the kids we sold off will be flourishing in the Premier league in the next few years. Might be a few decent championship players amongst them, might get the odd 1 possibly Mumba in the Premier but far too early to see if any of them are good enough

Yes, it probably was. I meant more for the constant defensiveness of a cancerous regime than his role at the club.

We need to move on to better more positive times. My post was in response to their frankly daft suggestion that we'll come to appreciate Donald and co in time. We won't.

I think a few of them have great potential to make a name for themselves. Only time will tell but signs are that we may have sold a golden generation for an absolute pittance. Man United very excited with Hugill for example. Greenwood looks a cut above too.

Lies and spin are what these charlatans will be remembered for. Banked on a quick promotion, since that went tits up at Wembley it's been further downhill since. They haven't stabilized, happily selling off anything that isn't nailed down. No direction and no planning, with no scouting team. Fans unhappy or at each others throats, a first team continually worse signing squad fillers rather than improvements, 3rd year in this league, a ton of players out of contact at the end of the season, a dull manager that splits opinion, regular cock ups or blaming of fans. There is next to nothing they can be praised for

What makes you think the kids we sold to Liverpool and Man Utd won't make it in the Premier league? Odds of probability or have you seen much of them?

This is the takeover? Sartori apparently taking a bigger stake and a 22 year old kid? These clowns from Oxford must be absolutely crying how much they are taking the piss.

Busy day today, haven’t been able to keep an eye on this thread.

Anyone fancy catching me up?
Hated wanker owners sell an insufficient amount of a struggling club to the billionaire heir of a famous European football dynasty, unfortunately he has been found guilty of being too young and he is therefore obviously a puppet/front for an unknown, nefarious organisation.

Ah, well now I understand better, I can certainly agree with you. Donald will certainly not be celebrated in future.
