Anyone get primo McMenemy vibes off the marwood suggestion? I dunno, it could well be a cushy retirement number. I’d rather we got ones on their way up rather than in their twilight. Would prefer to try to parallel Brighton when they went and got Dan Ashworth. Someone with more road left in their career - with fresh ideas and an innovative outlook. I’m sick of watching us recruit players who used to be famous that the club hope have enough juice left to be relevant. Concerns me that the same thinking will be present when we set up a structure for football operations.

Edit: Of course, anything is an improvement on complete dopes like Donald, Hill and Methven, mind.
That would be the ideal. I just have little faith in anyone involved with us to identify the next Dan Ashworth or anything approaching an innovative vision. I guess that depends who next has control of the club though.

The club he supposedly supports mind. I think him coming is entering the realms of fantasy though, I personally can’t see it but would massively welcome it.

For me, the most important thing is for the next owners to be competent. I’d take competence over wealth any day.

IIRC he had a spell on Sky and it was said regularly that he was a SAFC fan / boyhood team.

He has a very nice house in County Durham and I agree with your assessment.

There is no doubt he will have amassed enough cash to see him and his family through life and sometimes when you have cash like that, you can afford to do your dream and the money you are paid, does not really matter.

There is no doubt he is very capable of doing the job as he done it at Man City, but like you, my thoughts are a pipedream but we must always have hope.

The first thing I want to see from new owners is an admission that they know fuck all. I don’t want them doing anything permanent tbh. I’d far rather contract in some headhunters or advisers rather than have us employ a big name. It might get the wider fanbase onside quickly but it’s likely to be a parkour trick.

Unreal that people are still following the word of Magnus especially. The most clearly fabricated rumour of the lot imo and now changed his tack like the wind.

Also marwood must have had the biggest change of heart in history to be involved. Utterly zero interest in us previously.
It was obvious that Magnus was full of crap when he started giving proposed share breakdowns. The bizarre thing is that people are making excuses for him by saying he must have been lied to by a director.

over the road saying Marwood (looks like) coming in. now i'd love that to happen. as we need knowledgeable football people in to the run the club. people are saying why would he leave City to come here ? unbeknown to anyone his job at city could be under threat. yes he's done a great job, but he's been there a long time, and the owners might be thinking its gone a bit stale, let's face it they are miles behind city atm,.so maybe thinking its time to freshen it up there
he also maybe looking to get out before he is pushed, and if a brilliant project at his hometown club comes up.... he may think, why not ! (I'm sure they will pay him a VERY decent salary for leaving his current role) this might be the only chance he'll ever get in his lifetime, and may think, I need to grab this now.
this isn't me itk or owt, just trying to think laterally as to why he would come here. it maybe all a load of old bollocks, because lets face it, we've had our hopes dashed many many times before being a safc fan, not just over the most recent 'going's on'
anyway, let's just hope that this is the beginning of the end for this current regime, and we have a new one incoming with fresh/big ideas for the club ! we all absolutely LOVE our club, its in our blood and our veins ! and we deserve a decent go at it, we've suffered more than enough !
so let's hope it all goes through smoothly, and a new period of magic carpet(ness) is here ! and a modicum of success is somewhere on he horizon👍 (although I'd absolutely LOVE world domination tbh though new gaffers 🤷‍♂️)
anyway keep the faith, and 🤞
That haa been mentioned across the road about Marwood but if you look at the original post where it starts it is someone saying that someone that is coming in is a very well know football person.
A couple of people asked if it was Marwood but that wasn't confirmed.
Then I think a few people picked up on his name being mentioned.
So I'm not that optimistic although I would be delighted if it is

Hope it's not Peter Ridsdale

This idea of a ‘well-known’ person is where it starts to go wrong tbh. I don’t want someone who is well-known in football. I want someone who is good and knows their stuff. They might have that as well, but if the main criteria is profile, were starting off on the wrong foot. The fanbase needs to be smart enough not to fall for this shit this time round.

Well the big thing is that Donald no longer has controlling interest in the club if the rumours are true, and I, for one, think that’s a good thing. If satori takes control, he won’t be as hands on as Donald was, so he’ll have to get football people to run it, his personal and family wealth are fairly impressive unlike stewie, who admitted he couldn’t fund us if we were promoted, so all in all if that’s the outcome it’s better than we’ve got now imho.

Yeah basically agree with this. As long as it's not just a creative deal to relieve the pressure on Donald, but Sartori still allows him to make decisions, then it's a potential step in the right direction.

We still don't have any confirmation but I think pretty much all of the ITK's have acknowledged it's going to be something closer to this than the mythical super-takeover.

What the situation definitely doesn't need is empty soundbites like "the piss take party stops here" especially when it actually then got ramped up with the appointment of under qualified "mates" to key positions.

is Dennis Wise available ?

Is that the same Brian Marwood who sold us Adam Johnson and Rodwell, great bloke yeh 👍
He’s head of the Manchester City Football Group and not involved in player comings and goings.

Seaham Harbour lad with SAFC leanings who lives in Lanchester, County Durham.
There is an interest and there have been talks so let’s hope he arrives as he would bring both high level expertise and excellent contacts.

His experience at Nike where he was a senior UK executive and within the elite level of professional football in England is exactly what SAFC need.

Finally, Adam Johnson was a decent player whose ultimate demise was not football related. The signing of Rodwell at £10m despite his hideous injury record should have been closely investigated-it still stinks.

It’s not certain it’ll be him, but it could be.

Absolutely. This is where we as fans need to be much sharper. We should welcome new owners but shouldn’t wave through whatever shite they come up with just because they’re not the dreadful Donald regime. This is why the marwood speculation worries me. An ageing north east native returning to the area for a big payday having given a nebulous impression of success at a top league club at some point in the past. Makes me start worrying who the modern equivalent of Alan Kennedy is tbh. We absolutely need to Safc fanbase to sharpen up at this time of change. Call bullshit out as bullshit and don’t fall for tokenism and pandering.

So he is set for life and he would come to a 3rd Division club for peanuts? How much would Stewie be offering? £100k a year?
It wouldn’t be Donald making the decision would it!
If there’s serious new investment has it not crossed your mind that they may offer him a decent contract?

ditto pal ! 👍

Seen a few people mention how well off Sartori is. He’s a wealthy man but not sure about liquid cash though.
Sold the union group to the management team and at the time had assets of over $1 billion so can’t be short of a few quid, also since then sold a cannabis business for around $200 million! Believed to be close to a billionaire in his own right but not confirmed I’ll give you that!
