NopeCans today?
I and another poster posted months ago that we had a chance meet with someone very close to donald. And those were the exact words spouted when i asked him about takeovers. "Fans wont give a shit about a takeover when we win a few games". Added to that donalds performance on STID2 and the fact he is a proven bullshitter, i have never thought he is giving this club up.Have you heard them say that!?They are bigger idiots than even i thought they were ....the people of the north east in general are hard working types that providing you are honest and upfront with them will accept a lot of disappointment and failure provided they think your doing your best. However we are proud folk and once you have crossed a line they will always remember and never forget.....These two festering chancres are so far over the line and the level of opprobrium they have shown to our fans and the north east in general that there is no way back.
One of the most profound things I ever saw written on the SMB was when the thread was discussing the merits of private education.
I'm sure I'm paraphrasing slightly but a poster noted "it gives you a lifetime pass of never feeling like you don't belong."
And that's why I honestly think Methven will be back playing an active role.
This. Donald, for all I don't trust much of what he says, does seem to be someone who wants to be liked. I think he genuinely enjoys the whole sitting with the crowd on a Saturday side of things. He must know now that he's never going to get that back. He might even have the self awareness to realise that he's failing and will continue to fail. As such, he might be happy to take a back seat but he won't want to lose money, hence wanting to keep some shares in case someone else can improve us. He'll sit in Oxford and hope we succeed so he can get paid and forget all about it.
Methven is a different beast. Firstly, I don't think he gives a fuck about being liked. Secondly, I certainly don't credit him with the self awareness to realise he's failed. Likely he'll either be arrogant/ self confident enough to think he's doing a great job, or he'll think anything that has gone wrong has been the fault of others. He probably thinks he can add value to his shares and thus will be pushing for as much influence as possible. I just hope that KLD (assuming he does come in) has the funds and ambition to try and get us back up the leagues quite swiftly and has no interest in listening to Methven.
Why not?yes needed money the day they moved in but they had none! People like this should not be allowed to be in football
I wasn't really making any wider comment on private education tbh, but I do agree with your second paragraph. Not sure about being so broad brush about private education. Education is a privilege and if you are fortunate enough to be able to afford to pay for a higher standard establishment, why not. You cannot take the money with you so why not invest in your children’s foundation?
Eton, I would concede, is on a different scale. The sense of privilege and self entitlement is unique. In some ways I begrudgingly admire people like Methven for their unwavering self confidence and righteousness. I am not sure he has really suffered from the anxiety and self doubt that the everyday working man does. Having said that he did seem to be on the verge of a breakdown in the Playoff final so maybe the mask slipped there?
Out of the two of them Methven is by far the worst. I despise and detest everything he is and everything he stands for. I fear his stench will linger long after his departure. To be honest think don and charlie think that they have done a good job!TBH donald has said if the fans don't want him he will go....so there is no way back for him ......Charlie however will cling on like a giant limpet turd.so we have to make it clear that there is no way back and i cannot see them ever setting foot back in the sol again.
efl failure in my book .......
Im hoping against hope you are wrong but I don’t think you are. His background suggests it will be incredibly difficult for him to accept he’s singularly failed here. He will give not a jot that most supporters of this club Are revolted by him.I honestly think Donald has had enough and will disappear into the background, hanging o to his remaining shares until they are worth more.
Methven will be back in a senior role.

Another week passing and nothing happening. The EFL must be looking over the proposed takeover about 178 times at this rate!
Like VHS to DVD there’ll be an alternative to ‘cans’ by the time something happensNope
You heard it's still on track to be done though mate?far be it from me to guess at what’s happening but financial checks of foreign nationals unfortunately takes a lot longer than those of UK residents.
I’m sorry mate, but it doesn’t take this long. Not if everything is all good.far be it from me to guess at what’s happening but financial checks of foreign nationals unfortunately takes a lot longer than those of UK residents.
I think we can all acknowledge that some of the stories earlier on around August / September were utter nonsense so need to be discounted from the timeline. It hasn't been at the EFL for 3 months has it. All the signs point towards something happening that requires EFL sign off now.I’m sorry mate, but it doesn’t take this long. Not if everything is all good.
It doesn’t take this long if there is an actual takeover, which I don’t think there is.
Charlie @kildaremackem was calling people ‘deluded cretins’ last time he was on. Wonder if he makes a reappearance at some point.
It's not a takeover mate, a new investor is buying 40% of the shares, the other60% will still be in the hands of the people who are calling the shots nowAnother week passing and nothing happening. The EFL must be looking over the proposed takeover about 178 times at this rate!
