Tactically just about perfect gus.

I would have taken off altidore , but that is not the point .
We put out a side that was designed to nullify liverpools goal threat in the last third , up until catts's ( who i thought apart from that was excellent ) mistake it went to plan.
Then the subs second half to try and get back into the game worked
With 4 mins to go liverpool were trying to run down the clock in the corner we had them that rattled.
After a performance like that I have nothing but praise for the lads.
Unlike the arsenal game where we laid diwn from the start , this gives me a little hope but make no mistake 3 pts v the hammers or we are down.

I came back from the game gutted that we lost (again) and then I read this and now feel cheerful.

Not at all. I was replying to a comment that our tactics were 'spot on'. They obviously weren't. If they were we would have gotten a 0 - 0 draw or won.

Not necessarily. Liverpool were trying to win too.

Thought it wasn't great. Poor personnel choice. He keeps dropping then putting back in our better players (AJ and Ki). We need to try and build consistency.

Last night wasn't about consistency - it was about stopping a prolific, free scoring Liverpool. And it nearly worked, too - a world class free kick and a deflection was our undoing. Last night he got his tactics spot on - and if JOS hit the target, we'd have nicked a point, too.

If 'spot on' means exact, precise then the only conclusion must be the game went 'exactly' the way Poyet wanted it to i.e. we lost by less than expected. That might satisfy Poyet or you but not me. We should have gotten into them further up the field and pressed them to stop them playing.

Eh?

Stop Liverpool from playing by playing high? Are you mad?

That's a great way to lose 7-2.

IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF

IF Liverpool one of their many attacks. If the ref sent off Vergini (TWICE)

Haway man. It is always IF. Fuck IF. Just get it done. No excuses. Said that after the Palace game. After the Norwich game. Will probably say the same after the West Ham game. Full of exucses

Obviously our tactics were not spot on. We got beat and game home with nothing. It is that simple.

It isn't that simple at all.

You can get everything right against Liverpool and lose. Their players are several stratosphere's above ours.[DOUBLEPOST=1395917253][/DOUBLEPOST]

We lost - LOST. That's the only fact in this thread. We played a particular way inviting Liverpool onto us, near to our penalty area and goalmouth. How the devil they didn't score many more than two is beyond me. But getting the tactics right?

No. Its all excuses. People choosing to ignore the fact they had far more chances and we should have had a man sent off. People choosing to completely forget these points to try and suite their argument of 'spot on tactics'[DOUBLEPOST=1395917375][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yep and starting Vergini is getting nothing right. Start your best players not players that are f***ing shit.

So same team for West Ham or go back to 4-5-1???

I dont understand it. If thats what its coming to then we may as well just head to fizzy pop league now.

That's an absolutely absurd argument.

You can get tactics right and still lose against better sides. If you don't see that, I cannot be bothered to continue this discussion.[DOUBLEPOST=1395917544][/DOUBLEPOST]

Are you suggesting that Vergini's fouls were part of Poyet's tactics? Do you think he specifically instructed Vergini to make them?

That's a very naive way of looking at it. You are aware that Liverpool are a far better side than us?
