Tactically just about perfect gus.

You said we needed consistency, why are you chopping and changing?

Because these are the players who should have been on in the first place. Thats my point. Players like Vergini, Dossena and Giac have been shite and have had chances for Poyet. It is apparent that other players are far better.

No. Would have had CW with AJ on and Ki in place of Giac who offers absolutely nothing.

Be very interesting to see how he sets up tactically and personnel wise on Monday. Hopefully Vergini has already been sent packing. See enough.

Ki (along with Colback) were subbed against Norwich for being weak and gutless and Ki hasn't had an impact on a game for weeks like he can. He didn't deserve a start. The reaction when he came on hasn't been the norm recently and was clearly a reaction to being dropped.

Easy to say in hindsight after that reaction we should have started him, when previously he's been going through the motions.[DOUBLEPOST=1395908697][/DOUBLEPOST]
I would use that formation for the remaining away games. Try and scrape draws at spurs and Man United.

Not sure. I think it was A) aimed at keeping tight on the movement of Suarez and Sturridge with three centre halfs as they move accross the backline and B) due to our lack of a left back last night and left winger (at the moment anyway in Borini) it was also designed for the lack of Dossena's quality at fullback, who has always been more of a midfielder.

I'd rather we went to those teams and packed the midfield with Ki, Cattermole and Bridcutt in their, with a striker up top and the wide threat from Johnson and Borini.

I think Ki has been poor down to an overall team performance though. He needs to have strong players next to him, not f***ing SEB. Cattermole and Bricutt should partner Ki for the rest of the season.

Apart from playing Altidore, not playing our best winger, not playing our best CM, playing Dossena LB and leaving Vergini on, aye, f***ing tremendous Gus lad.

Agree with that but think Ki did need a kick up the arse. Poyet picked the right formation from the start and got a reaction from Johnson and Ki which hopefully they will take into west ham game. One thing though dont play vergini again this season.

leaving vergini on was a terrible decision.

Vergini playing was part of the system Gus adopted, which for me worked quite well... If he wasn't playing, the system would have failed miserably and we may have been looking at 5 or 6 nil...

I wish these Vergini haters would give it a rest... The lad is still settling in and finding his feet, in a completely different league to what he's used to...

Because Virgini is one of the trendy players to dislike. Jump on the Virgini is crap bus.[DOUBLEPOST=1395909540][/DOUBLEPOST]
You are an idiot pal. sorry, but you are. Go back to playing FIFA 14 on the xbox.

jump on the vergini is crap bus?, the blokes a clown and miles out of his depth.

you dont think we conceded posession from the off?, that was a game for nothing last night and poyet set us out to sit deep bypass the midfield and hump it long at every opportunity hoping for a lucky knockdown between the two frontmen, that is the reality of the "just about perfect" tactics.

Imo Vergini looked like a scared rabbit in a cars headlights at times last night....anyone else but me think he is scared of the pace of the game in England?

Which is why I'm so glad Gus is our manager and not people like you!

hopefully he finds them in the next 6 weeks or so while he still plays for us eh?, another piece of january stupidity.

Poyet would be best off accepting that every team in the league are better than us, and setting up the team accordingly.

We are fantastic when set up like last night - tight, compact, efficient, patient.

It does look like a bit of a shock to him, but he's used to a game that's slower and not so physical. He needs to be given time to adjust.

I can see enough signs that there is a decent player in there though...

A good example is the Argie up the road, a virtually identical situation...

I would have taken off altidore , but that is not the point .
We put out a side that was designed to nullify liverpools goal threat in the last third , up until catts's ( who i thought apart from that was excellent ) mistake it went to plan.
Then the subs second half to try and get back into the game worked
With 4 mins to go liverpool were trying to run down the clock in the corner we had them that rattled.
After a performance like that I have nothing but praise for the lads.
Unlike the arsenal game where we laid diwn from the start , this gives me a little hope but make no mistake 3 pts v the hammers or we are down.
Can't disagree with any of that TBH. For a title challenging team like Liverpool to look kill the clock is a compliment to our performance, especially second half. Agreed, Cattermole's error cost us ( again I know ), but bar 2 quality strikes, we held our own and looked to grow stronger in the second half. Carry some of this momentum into the WHU game, and hopefully we'll get the 3 points we badly need to start inching our way upwards.

So are saying that, if there is an opportunity of a decent deal to sign a potentially quality player we should n't do it if he need time to adjust...

That's what we scout players for marra. It doesn't matter when we sign them... You have to remember we are competing in a competitive market where it's essential that we try to steal a march on other teams... Or we stand still...

Tactically just about perfect, 2-0 down at half time, team changes to make things better, we lost again, think again. Must do better![DOUBLEPOST=1395911980][/DOUBLEPOST]

It could be argued that they were saving themselves for the more challenging tasks ahead.

Maybe so. Just trying to look at it as a positive for us that's all.
