England 30-man squad named for World T20. Includes Durham's Onions, Borthwick and Stokes

Can't see any of our 3 making the starting XI

With no KP I would say our chances are slim of retaining the trophy. One less player in the team with T20 sub continental experience....and a World Class one at that.

Provisional squad Stuart Broad (capt), James Anderson, Jonathan Bairstow, Gareth Batty, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Scott Borthwick, Tim Bresnan, Danny Briggs, Jos Buttler, Alastair Cook, Steven Croft, Steven Davies, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Alex Hales, Craig Kieswetter, Michael Lumb, Stuart Meaker, Eoin Morgan, Graham Onions, Samit Patel, Matt Prior, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Graeme Swann, James Taylor, James Tredwell, Chris Woakes, Luke Wright

My guess is the final 15 will be something like this:

Hales
Kieswetter (wk)
Bopara
Morgan
Bairstow
Buttler
Patel
Broad (c)
Swann
Dernbach
Finn

Taylor
Wright
Bresnan
Briggs

I'd leave out Bell and Cook as I don't feel they're T20 players, and I'd leave out Anderson firstly to rest him for The Ashes and secondly because I feel Finn's pace and Dernbach's variations will be more effective on the subcontinent pitches.

Being biased I'd say Borthwick would be ahead of Briggs. And I think Taylor would be ahead of Buttler.

Maybe. At least then we'd have three different types of spinner in the squad. Can't see Taylor being in ahead of Buttler - he's a bit more inventive and a good finisher.

Why name a 30 man squad now? What is the point exactly?
Cook? Ffs
Wright? For f***ing f***ing fucks sake

All teams had to name their 30 man squad yesterday. It'll be to sort out visas and stuff, I imagine. Gives the players plenty of time to really knuckle down and try to impress the selectors too.
