Swann out of the series

Bollocks! Not the best start to the year that. Can't see him being fit for the home series against NZ with the recovery time. I just hope he'll be back playing by the end of that series so we can get him back up to speed in the ODIs when the results aren't important just in time for the Ashes.
 
Expected back 'early in the English summer', so hopefully back for the start of the Ashes, at worst.

Based on him having a test average of 32. Not many countries can call on a 2nd spinner with that good an average over 45 tests
 
Called up Tredwell as cover.

Not sure about that. Would have preferred Borthwick or Briggs. Not that it's likely any of them will play.
 
Swann hasn't been at his best for ages, so it's not a huge loss. Monty is a quality replacement

Would have called up a youngster as cover, perfect opportunity to blood them in a test match atmosphere against an average side
