Super League - Saudi style

It won't be allowed as the advantage would be huge. Even more so than the advantage they already have.
Agreed. The financial advantage they will have over the rest of the domestic league will break the league as a competition so long term, I don't see how they will be allowed to remain even if the League are stupid enough to allow them in to begin with.

You only have to look at Man City's owners to see what the end game is.

Buy clubs in the various regions around the globe to give you a foothold in the regions, throw at bit of money at them to get them higher up / more successful than they have been, thus making their fans easier to manipulate, while doing this the State get into bed with FIFA and throw money at them for World Club Championships / World Cups, whilst paying massive wages to players for their league.

Before you know it it will be "Ohh look Saudi have sponsored the FIFA World Club Championship as well as the Men and Womens World Cups"

The traditional "Big Clubs" wont want to miss out on the mental amount of money so will integrate with them rather than run the risk of missing out and before you know it theres a Global Super League with the 80% of the best players in the world playing for £1 million plus a week to sold out stadiums in the Far East, Middle East, America etc
i would hope by that point we are a premer league club again, because one all the best players start going to the super league, however i doubt it will end up like that, honestly they don't even need a super league all they need to do is buy the world club cup, and turn that into a champions league style, competition.

Thank you.

Forgot to add that they could theoretically do all that with the money they have now and it not affect a thing. They could even afford to have 20 teams paid £500 million each a year for the first 3 years of it and it wouldnt even dent the interest they make on their wealth fund. Thats before revenue from TV deals etc
That’s right… I would be astounded if it didn’t happen

I think that is more likely and has more global appeal I reckon.

Not sure they can buy a tournament?

Plus by having your own private World league you can sportswash all over the globe for most of the year. The World Club Cup will be the "Champion's League / Cup Final" for the LIV World Football League

Hope so, I'd hate it if it was SAFC joining it. No doubt the mags will be included, if they hadn't thought they'd lost their club already, it will soon hit home when they're playing clubs in the middle east.
Yeah… and I hate the mags as much as the next bloke, but I want them here so I can hate them up close and personal.

they'll start with a pre season invite only tournament in Saudi then gradually up their involvement
That’s how I would do it if I were sportswashing. They will get the olympics soon enough too.
A bit warm then mind...
Mags have already been there I think. Can be done during the winter “break” I suppose 🤣

indeed it is more likely, and yes they can buy a tournament all they need to do, is provide prize money, and that will get them a seat at the table, then they have enough money behind them to slowly take it over, until they are the one's making the rules, thus, they will be able to decide, how the World Club Cup, in theory is decided, but also who comes in and who doesn't.

Really looking forward to the Super League. Get these super rich pawn used clubs out of our League's and let football return to the fans, back to level fields.

Personally i think they w ill want a World Super League as it would make more money / sportswash over a longer period and sadly i see it happening in the next couple of years

It is a great point - but I am conflicted. I am not misty eyed and nostalgic (those days are gone and probably not as fantastic as I remember them!!). However, I think a total overhaul of our football without the legacy clubs would feel very strange.
I’m genuinely split on what to think about it.

Here's 15 teams that you probably have to have -
Ajax
Benfica
Real Madrid
Barcelona
Bayern Munich
Borussia Dortmund
Juventus
Inter
AC
Roma
PSG
Man City
Man Utd
Liverpool
Newcastle (given we assume the Saudi's run it)

This encompasses only six countries and has some big teams missing from even those nations. I think the appeal is limited and any larger and I don't see how you can run League fixtures and remain in the Premier League. And that's before the financial gain of these clubs breaking the Premier League by creating an even more destructive asymmetry between the Super League teams and the rest of the division. It would kill the Premier League. I really can't see how it would work for teams to remain in domestic Leagues.

Certainly the likes of Real, Barca and PSG don't want to remain in their leagues and will want a bigger super league than this to capitalise on the revenue, but it won;t work to be bigger and stay in the Premier League.

The English teams will never leave the Prem to join a super league if they are thrown out of the league, however I wouldn't put is past the PL themselves being bought off and approving it

I think it likely they'll be paid off to let them remain, but the resulting asymmetry of financial clout of teams in the Super League will subsequently destroy the Premier League anyway. They'll let them do it and they'll be signing their own death warrant.

I don’t think PSG in the current ownership structure (Qatar) will play along…

Bayern showed no interest last time, and the German ownership structure would make that difficult (not impossible).

It would be funny to see Spurs miss out mind - and I am sure Arsenal would be in
And Chelsea
